Surprisingly delicious & affordable food for a museum cafe! We had no particular expectations and were very pleasantly surprised. The fries in particular were perfectly done.

Friendly staff, fresh and tasty food, and a very clean environment. The coffee is great too – not fancy, just simple and really good. Definitely a place worth coming back to!

Another review discusses getting an off-menu grilled cheese. When we visited in July 2025, that was not available - the cashier spoke to the cook and reported that they can’t do off-menu items because then they’d have to support special orders during busy times. Since nothing else worked for our kids, we ended up getting just granola bars, which was a disappointment.

The food at the Rimrock Cafe is very good quality and made fresh. It is counter service - you order at the cashier and they will bring the food out to your table. They have indoor & outdoor dining - however due to the rain while we were there the patio seating was closed.
They have sustainable options - no to go cups, coffee is served in mugs and their to go containers are biodegradable.
There are plenty of tables and artwork that decorate the walls while you eat.
The food was delicious. The Philly burger was a hit and their fries were one of the best I've had. My boyfriend opted for thr Gobbler - all of his favorite sandwich stuff all in one.
Great food & good prices.

Excessive mayonnaise on a flavorless sandwich. Fries were good, burgers super greasy.

Best burger I've ever had (Rimrock Burger 2.0) Wasn't expecting that, especially at a museum.

So the food is really good. I wish they’d get rid of the sort of large couch seating area for more tables.

The person taking orders was extremely rude. They have candy right at kid eye level and my kid went to pick one up to ask me if I’d buy it for her. I was about to tell her no and to not touch things we don’t buy, when this guy snapped at my kid. He shouldn’t be talking to anyone that way. Then when I got my burger and it still had hints of red in it, I told him it was underdone. He was extremely nasty about the whole exchange. Between snapping at a kid who didn’t deserve it and that exchange, he should not be working with the public.

I can tell they really care there. We love to order the grilled cheese and tomato soup but turns out that’s a winter item but the General Manager (I believe that was his role) made an accommodation for us because he still had the right bread and avoiding a very disappointed toddler. It was really kind of him and the staff to prepare a delicious grilled cheese for us. Plus, they had blood orange lemonade and tropical iced tea … simply delicious as an Arnold Palmer and it’s those little details that show me they take pride in what they’re doing! Thank you for helping us make our high desert museum experience all the better!

I don't have high expectations for museum cafés so I was pleasantly surprised by the food options, quality, and service of the High Desert Museum's café. We came here for lunch yesterday and I ordered the southwest salad with crispy chicken. I loved it! It was tasty all around and had a great spice kick. My father-in-law ordered the same salad with salmon and fries, and also enjoyed them. The space was comfortable and kid friendly. Service was accommodating and professional.

This is inside the High Desert Museum. It took us a while to figure that out. Enjoyed a nice turkey bagel sandwich. Their tater tots were nice and crispy. Yum?!

It's a good place to eat especially if you're already checking out the High Desert Museum. Prices are surprisingly fair here, which is not something I see often at restaurants that are located inside museums. They have a solid selection of American food including burgers and sandwiches. Their fries are really good and well-spiced, plus whenever they distribute sides, they give a large amount. My boyfriend enjoyed the chili. They also let you order off the kids' menu if you want something like chicken strips, which is what my partner and I ended up getting. The place looks nice and is fairly clean for a cafeteria-like setting, though very casual.
