The beer and service are amazing!
Go for the beer but hangout and comeback because of the hospitality, atmosphere, definitely the Black Gate Ale. This place is great. So glad I chose to chill on the Misty Mountain while visiting Brookings. Did I mention the craft beer? Take the journey and end it with a quaint spot to enjoy A+ libations.
Good beer, very friendly, great place to hang out.
This micro-brewery was a surprise discovery for me staying in town for the weekend. The owners, 'Matt' and 'Liz', are some of the nicest folks I have ever met. The decor and vibe in here is great, its a fun place. Even if you're not a fan of the Tolkien books/Peter Jackson movies, you should still go here, because the beer is unique and fantastic. Recommend the pumpkin stout.
P.S, if you're a fan of the movies, ask Matt about the swords.
I ordered the chopped apple salad + chicken. I was surprised by the hot chicken; was expecting cold chicken. The flavor was herby, in a good way. The slices of apple were a nice way to finish the palette. The cranberry cider as a nice combo to the salad. My husband ordered the Bjorn quesadilla. Sadly the bottom was soggy and it was served in a basket so it was hard eat and cut. The approach to table service was lacking. I received my salad from a gal that said her husband told her to deliver it to my table. She was not working. Then there was a time of nothingness. The quesadilla came way later. When I walked to the service counter to request a box, I stood there for a few minutes waiting for one of the guys in the back room. The gal, sitting at the counter talking to customers finally spoke up to one of the guys to come out (guessing it was her husband). Not a great or reasonable experience.
Unfortunately, they were closed when I hunted them down. Had an amazing conversation with the owner/brewer and one is his employees.
If I'm ever in this town again I'm absolutely visiting again.
Excited to try the beer in the photo.
Absolutely phenomenal. Run by the sweetest people, food is amazing, and the beer is great! 10 out of 10. Highly recommend.
Sometimes you don't know what to expect from a small town brewery, but we agree with the other reviewers - this place has it all - great ambience, tasty beer, and excellent food. And they were super welcoming to us bringing our (usually well-behaved) 4-year old in with us. We came through in early June as part of the usual Oregon Coast road trip. Love the dungeon/fantasy theme and the string pulley ping pong wall game (4-year old entertained, happy, and well behaved all evening!). Wife and I had the kolsch (true-to-style) and the golden stout (interesting, unusual, and very tasty), and the three of us had tri-tip sandwiches that were some of the best food we had on our two-week trip. The brewer and bartender were both wonderful and friendly. We wish y'all the best for continued business success and hope to make it through again some day!
Decor amazing. Food is fantastic. Ciders are delicious.
Highly recommend stopping here if you’re in the area. Owners were incredibly personable and food and beer were great. Got a flight of all 8 of the beers they brew and enjoyed all of them. Would come back in an instant if I’m ever in Brookings again.

The food has been outstanding every time I have had it. Tonight, I had the potato garlic soup which was fantastic. I followed up with the tacos made with chicken that is taken from a Hobbit recipe. The tacos were superb as well. The brew menu is quite varied. I am an IPA-only beer drinker. Thankfully they have had the house IPA Elvin always flowing which is really a very decent IPA.
THIS PLACE IS AMAZING! Almost as incredible as the owners. Tasty beer on tap and a nerd paradise all in one. Must visit while in Brookings!
Great food and brew, cool atmosphere, excellent service too!
Stopped in last night and had a couple of IPAs that were delicious. Also love the theme! The brewer was super friendly and even gave us a mini tour even though it was close to closing. We’ll definitely be coming back here next time we pass through!
Misty Mountain... the dungeon brewery. Lol. Located downstairs in a 'back room' adds to the already cool ambiance of this spot.
Amazing owners. Cool decor. Fun theme. Fabulous beers. I can't say enough good things. I would definitely recommend making a stop if you're in the area.
