Fuego Underground is indeed "Fire!" I've been to dozens of Speakeasy establishments in New York, Las Vegas, and even in Central America. Fuego Underground has easily become a top 5 favorite experience for me!It isn't secreted behind an unmarked door or hidden behind a business front, but it has an authentic feel of a Speakeasy from the 20s and 30s. The servers are dressed as flappers, and the interior of the Underground beneath De Fuego bar attached to the Monarch hotel in Clackamas is opulent yet tasteful and reminiscent of the era. There is live piano music at opening, and smooth jazz trios and featured artists later in the evening. The service is on point. Everyone embraces the spirit of the experience being created within the Fuego Underground. The cocktails are heavily weighted toward the whiskey and bourbon drinking crowd, yet all drinks are given the prohibition era spin in presentation. The entrees are predominantly various cuts of beef with some exceptions, and they are of equal quality to any high-end steak house in Portland. The sides are varied and better than most compared to, say, El Goucho or Ringside. I had a Gâteau au Chocolat for desert that was delicious! (even though I had to take it home and eat it 2 hours later for being so full!)Overall, it was an amazing experience! If you love a good Speakeasy, you HAVE to try Fuego Underground. If you just like great steaks and craft cocktails, this is a hidden gem with easy parking, but reservations are recommended. This place is popular and for very good reason.

Wow...Wow...and wow. My friends took me here last night with my wife and I was blown away. The drinks, service, and food are all over the top. We shared the wedge salad at first, then got the New York Steak Whipped Potatoes and Asparagus. We added their bread (The bread with the butter is INCREDIBLE). Again...I could write pages. This place was exceptionally better than the downtown overpriced steak houses. We will be back...soon. NOTE We went all out. Appetizers, drinks, desserts...about $130 per person which is a deal in my book for what we got.

We so love The Underground. The steaks are as good as the Ringside's and the sides are better. And they usually have good jazz; the last two times Tom Grant played. Service too is excellent: prompt and knowledgeable servers. It's just great. Close to ClackMa Town Center.

Wow. What an amazing hidden gem. The speak easy was a great way to have fun with my team. The food was so good!! The sides to share worked for my entire team. And the steaks just topped the night. Thank you for the live music and fun!

What a gem of a place! We LOVED our waitress. She was so kind and fun to interact with during our time there. They do offer mocktail versions of the drinks, but you have to ask as it is not on the menu. We had steaks. My filet was perfectly cooked and tasted wonderful. However, my date's steak was lacking flavor. We also had the mashed potatoes, which I thought had too many different flavors going on at once. They were VERY rich! Oh! They have AMAZING horseradish that will clear out those sinuses! The ONLY downside, is this place is in the basement of the Monarch Hotel and there was a reception occurring immediately next door to The Underground so the musicians playing jazz in the restaurant was almost competing with the music from the reception next door. I was overwhelmed with the over-stimulation of sound.

The food and drinks, were good. We were able to listen to some music during dinner. This made for a lovely evening out, with my husband.

What a fun experience. Food was ??4 star on food, our chocolate cake was good, but a bit dry and way too sweet. Live piano player and then a fun band. Speak easy style, even the staff are dressed in that time period. Felt very cared for. We've been on a dry January (not going out to eat) because to often than not, the food and service sucks for the amount of money we shell out. This was well worth falling off the wagon for. Will be back, maybe next month❤️❤️❤️ get a reservation for sure

The Underground is a place you're not going to want to miss. Located in the downstairs of the Monarch hotel. This is really considered a speakeasy, rather than a bar or restaurant. This is not to be confused with de fuego, which is located upstairs. Walking into this speakeasy, you'll find beautiful decor and well dressed staff that fits the scene. The warm environment and live jazz instantly makes you feel comfortable. With pre prohibition era cocktails, a bourbon bar, and a table side absinthe service, which is not to be missed. The cocktails here don't disappoint. The steaks here wonderfully dry aged and prepared to perfection. Whether you're having a Bavette or a Rib Eye, you'll enjoy every bite. However, as good as the steaks are, the appetizers and sides really shine. The Prawn Cocktail, Truffle Mac and Cheese, and Herb Roasted Petit Carrots should not be missed. I've been here twice now and I'm ready to go back. The live music is at the perfect volume, the latest band playing such classics has Moon River. The service here is outstanding. Dressed to fit the scene, polite, pleasant, and attentive. The food is prepared to perfections, and plenty of dessert options. If you're looking for a nice evening out with friends or a date with a loved one, you'll want to give The Underground a try.

Went to the underground for my birthday and it was such a fun time! The atmosphere is fantastic. The staff is dressed to theme, the decor is beautiful, and the live music was so fun. We ordered a bunch of food and it was all great! We started with oysters, then salad and bone marrow bread service, the tomahawk steak and Cajun salmon. We ordered a different drink each time and they were all great. My only complaints are that the crab leg we got was dry and that I'd skip the beet salad. The ratio of toppings to salad was wayyyyy off so in the end we were left with a bunch of plain salad.

I was blown away by my eating experience at this restaurant. The food, ambiance, and customer service were all excellent. I had dinner here last week and will definitely come back again. This is not a budget friendly restaurant, but it's well worth your money. I loved the Prohibition Era decor and outfits that all the staff wore. The food and cocktails were phenomenal. You have to eat the warm rosemary bread with bone marrow, dry aged ribeye, truffle mashed potatoes, and tiramisu! It was one of the best and most memorable meals I have had in a restaurant in a long time. It was well worth the price. It also had live music, which was a nice bonus. I highly recommend the eating experience at The Underground.
