I went in to pick up some apple fritters for my husband. Everything looked and smelled amazing. When it was my turn to be helped the older red haired lady asked if I could wait just a moment. I said sure. She grabbed a paper towel and started wiping her nose. She told me that she wasn't sick, it was just allergies. I nodded and waited. She wiped a couple more times then put the paper towel on the table behind her and asked what I needed. I asked her if she was going to wash her hands first. She said she didn't need to because nothing had really came out. I said that he had touched her face and wiped her nose. And she again said that nothing came out. I said nope nope nope hell no ande left.

The donuts were fantastic. Not greasy. Very fresh. Limited choices but that's expected with a small shop. Prices are fair. Those complaining about price are insane. In Portland these are normal prices and this is the only donut place in Coos Bay. I would definitely come back.

Donut holes- very standard, very typical donut holes. These are definition donut holes. Not my favorite, could be sweeter, but have a great texture and a great glaze
Old fashioned - good flavor but not as moist as I like for an old fashioned. Very good though. Better than most but not the best.
Apple fritter- best of the bunch. Amazing moisture with just enough crispy edge bits to keep it interesting. Not a ton of apple or spice character but still a great donut.
Chocolate cake - good texture but lacking in flavor. Not dry but also not the moist, deliciousness that I crave in a cake donut. The chocolate glaze is good, it tastes like a standard donut shop chocolate
Chocolate chocolate cake - great flavor. Again, just lacking moisture. Really really great flavor
Glazed twist- very average. Nothing wrong just stuff that we wish was different. Not as moist or sweet as we would like.

Best experience and donuts in town. We ordered some donuts on DoorDash to start our morning and ended up getting busy. Empire donuts called me to let me know they were out of what we ordered but I wasn’t able to answer the phone. As a result they substituted it perfectly with honestly exactly what we wanted but didn’t know how to order online. They even included a hand written note explaining the situation which just sweetened the situation. Thank you Aubrey and team! You guys are awesome.

It’s the only donut game in town and the prices reflect it. The basic donut prices here are what you would pay for a fancy gourmet donut in the city. That being said, the owners are very nice. Some of the donuts were very delicious (two visits) and some were “Meh” imho. The raspberry filled really delicious. The apple fritter was good but maybe a 7/10 on my “fritter scale” The cake donuts were half the size of what one would expect - almost a “donette” lol. They also run out of donuts early and the selection was sparse by 10:45 the last time we went in. Portland is a long ways so if you’re feigning for a donut and got the extra scratch, give them a try.

Walked in, saw the female worker, coughing into her hands, and then reaching for stuff in the case, I walked out. The people that were in front of me walked out, and one of them yelled, don’t go in there, the lady is uncontrollably coughing in her hands, and does not wash them, disgusting!
There appeared to be no wash sink in the prep area.
If you’re sick, stay home, or use sick time, but for God, sakes, with all this Covid and other things running around, at least wash your hands when needed. Won’t be back.
