Fantastic sushi and other Japanese dishes. An interesting blend of music accentuates your meal with everything from Kendrick to Steely Dan to Clarence Carter.
My favorite dish was the smoked duck buns and the sake sushi salmon was so tender. I’m looking forward to coming back.

Great customer service - so fun sitting at the sushi bar chatting with the owner, Taro and other patrons.
Had an amazing chefs choice roll and vegetarian bun. Taro was so kind in expressing how important it was to him that the veg rolls were just as good as the fish rolls and I can tell you yes, yes it was the best veg roll I’ve had. Inari, seared avo and squash topped with pickled bean sprouts and radish.
My husband eats meat and he left just as happy as me. Chicken buns, a smoked hamachi inari and a fried chicken dish. We both could not believe what a good experience it was. I had two cocktails and the Plastic Beach was a standout. The seasonal strawberry mochi cake was…chefs kiss. All of the Akira staff were so friendly and accommodating and Taro was there to make sure everyone in his view was taken care of.

Fantastic night out for my wife's birthday, and discovered my new favorite sushi place, to boot! Cocktails were awesome, especially the Ra-Ra-Rasputin! Pickled veggies for an appetizer, and 3 awesome rolls including the Me. V (pro tip: add mango!!) The owner was hilarious and friendly, and when they heard it was my wife's birthday, they brought her a free dessert that ROCKED!! As we were getting ready to leave, we were treated to some of the chef's personal closing snack: some beef sashimi that blew my mind! Definitely coming back! Thank you guys for an awesome night!

We had an amazing first visit to Akira tonight. The ambiance is unique and endearing. Every offering was exceptional in its own way. We sat at the bar upstairs and felt extremely well cared for by Thor and the other staff members. We enjoyed a paté katsu starter, a delicious hamachi roll, and the pork steam bun tacos. The highlight of our evening was dessert - the mochi was out of this world!

Wow, this restaurant is truly a hidden gem! The service was impeccable—every staff member was attentive, friendly, and made us feel right at home. And the food? Absolutely outstanding! Every dish was beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. It’s rare to find a place where both the service and cuisine are exceptional, but this spot really nailed it. Was here again last night and still love it. Asian fried chicken, Hamachi rolls, boa tacos all great. Good vibe here, service is friendly and good but not always quick as they are very busy (but if you go in with that expectation it won't bother you). Not really a kid place? Good, full bar. The roasted carrots with pear and curry was astonishing. GET THE CARROTS!! Love this place

I don’t leave reviews, but I am truly in awe of this restaurant. I’ll start with I love the restaurants. Every aspect of this place is the best you could imagine. This place has the most incredible service, food, at atmosphere I’ve yet to experience. I had to go twice, in case the first was a fluke. But no, it really is the best restaurant and staff in Eugene.

This was our first time at Akira and it was amazing. I am from Los Angeles and am always disappointed by Sushi in other places. Akira could be the best sushi in Oregon it is definitely in the top 3. Everything was amazing. The sushi chef was super passionate, knowledgeable and added to the zen of the whole experience. Each bite was visual and epicurean art. Can't wait to go back!!!
