Great takes on vegan comfort food, always was busy when I visited.

I just couldn’t not review Cornbread Cafe. Like for so many others, this place was special to me. I used to travel up and down Oregon a lot, and I would always try to stop here when going through Eugene. The Eugenewich was legendary, easily one of the best “burgers” I’ve ever had, especially when they were still putting the crispy carrots on it. And their southern fried tofu still remains the best fried tofu I’ve ever had anywhere. I’m going to miss you, Cornbread Cafe! Thank you for all the delicious and nourishing soul food! ???

Two stars for the workers that seem nice and tried. We came in and there were samples by the front and the nice worker at front offered us some, then who I imagine was the owner came and snatched them right in front of us. Then we ordered our $8 milkshakes which came out melted and watery. We asked to have them remade and again a little better but still came out as like a watery smoothie consistency. This place used to be amazing and the last 3 times we have went it's been extremely disappointing. ? offering us something else or a refund if the machine wasn't working or whatever was happening would have been nice.

Vegan diner with excellent service and a charming atmosphere. Staff is charismatic and friendly, as well as willing to answer questions about the various dishes. Plenty of variet within the dishes which generally follow the vibe of comfort food. I strongly recommend the Eugenewich, their signature sandwich.

Vegetarian options: All dishes are vegan

Kid-friendliness: The diner is incredibly kid friendly, with a kids menu of smaller items.

Dietary restrictions: All dishes are vegan and halal, and many have the option to be made as gluten-free.

I stopped in while driving through Eugene and thoroughly enjoyed my visit! Since there were so many tempting choices (all vegan), I struggled to choose, but the staff were incredibly helpful in their suggestions. I ultimately settled on the Build Your Own with Chick'n Fried Tempeh & Gravy, Mac unCheese, Sassy Slaw, and Jalapeno Cornbread. I also threw in a side of the hushpuppies and a chocolate shake for good measure :). Everything was delicious and I had leftovers for days! Everyone who worked there was so kind and provided stellar service. I highly recommend giving Cornbread Cafe a try!

Vegetarian options: All vegan!

I used to live in Eugene. I almost worked in the back of the house at Cornbread Cafe. I come from a culinary arts background and still love cooking vegetable forward vegan meals. Cornbread is unique in that it does vegan comfort food aka comfort food like sandwiches and sides very well. I recently went here with some friends. We enjoyed our meal. I am a big fan of Reubens and here they do it right. Perhaps a touch heavy. They use seitan for the protein aka wheat protein which I am fine with yet prefer tempeh Reubens. Still all in all it was quite alright and got it with a side of mashed taters and gravy. My friend got a French dip sandwich with fries. That she enjoyed. Her sister went with the southern fried tofu and cauliflower wings. I tried the latter. It was tasty yet was breaded and deep fried. I think Cornbread Cafe is good for vegan comfort food to enjoy on occasion when not following my regular whole food plant based aka vegan diet. Recommended to give a try in the area. Driving through on the way from Petaluma, CA to Portland, OR and found this little gem of a spot. Amazingly one of the best “vegan comfort food” places that I have tried (and there have been many). The Eugenewich was probably the best I have ever had. The biscuits and gravy… to die for. Obviously, homemade biscuits. The Reuben was fantastic too! Don’t forget the cornbread and the hush puppies. It might be worth the 500 mile drive just for the food. The staff is friendly, accommodating and extremely knowledgeable. They went out of their way to make it an enjoyable experience. Can’t say enough!

This food was absolutely delicious. It really gives you a full southern feel from the breading of the chik'n fried tempeh to the 'creamy' coleslaw. We had a build your own platter to try a bunch of things out and I can't recommend it enough. To top it off the grilled biscuit with the delectable sweet spread was the icing on the cake of a wonderful meal.

Vegetarian options: All vegan

Dietary restrictions: All vegan and offers gluten free options.

The fry on the chicken fried tempeh!?! Wow, such perfection. The flavor was incredible all around. Amazing, super reasonably priced food. I was blown away by how wonderful it all was.

Cornbread Cafe was nothing short of delicious!! Loved their little diner style. We chose the hush puppies, cauliflower wings, and Ruben. Also got a side of cornbread because it felt like a must. We were not disappointed. Unfortunately they were out of ice cream that day and we couldn't try the milkshakes.

Delicious food, awesome service, and great outside seating. I’m not vegan and was a bit hesitant but everything tasted great. The fried chicken tasted like sausage and was super well seasoned and yummy. The fries were really over salted though which was disappointing. The ranch was delicious and didn’t taste lacking of buttermilk.

Great vegan comfort food spot! The fried "chicken" has the classic crunchy, satisfying breading that totally evokes the real thing, the cashew gravy is outstanding, and the breakfast burrito stuffed with "bacon", "eggs" and fries is sooo delicious.

Vegetarian options: Everything here is vegan!

Dietary restrictions: Everything here is vegan, but they also offer gluten free substitutions on a lot of items.

This used to be really good. We ate there today, and everything tastes sweet. I got a savory dish, and it all was sweet. And they put maple tasting vegan butter on my jalapeño corn bread. Who does that? It's not like it was just a few years ago. They should have kept the one in Springfield,it had a much better menu.

Yes, the food (from a small menu) is pretty good, but...It is also comfort food that sometimes leaves me feeling uncomfortable. As in, it's very starchy/fried/fatty, and can leave me feeling heavy afterward. Believe me, I'm glad it's vegan and I'm glad it's here. I just wish they had more fresh vegetables and such on offer. That would be more of a comfort to little ol' vegan me.
