We had an awful experience. In short, do not visit here on the weekend, or unless you have three hours to wait, and don’t have to order gluten free bread.

It took over two and a half hours to order and receive our food, when it arrived, one of the four items ordered was missing, one of the orders was wrong and even though we asked for gluten free bread, regular bread was given causing one of our party to become ill. The server did what she could, but had to tell me that the missing brunch dish wasn’t sent to the kitchen with my order, and that they could make one but it would take a lot of time. I will never return. The coffee was great, and it was a cute place, but neither of those things can justify a return visit. I wish I could take back the nearly three hours of my day I spent there.

Two stars given for the food since the two dishes of the four ordered that were correct were good. But I cannot overlook the incorrect order, giving us regular bread instead of gluten free, and completely missing one entree even though it took over two hours to get our food.

I was super excited to give this place a try, there was decent amount of people so we assumed it must be pretty good. Outside was cute, heaters were outside and a place to stay inside with a fire pit. Waited about 15 minutes in line- not bad there was a decent selection of food and pastries and bread. The very disappointing thing was waiting an HOUR for 2 okay sandwiches. I was suprised they didn’t even say it would be a long wait just for a sandwich. MOST places when there’s a long wait you get notified or something. We got the food and it was okay. A little spendy for what you get and was not worth the wait. I got there at 9am and left almost 10:35am and had to just eat in my car due to a few hour drive back. Would be better of just going to the Cresswell bakery and would have been able to get good food in a timely manner. The staff at the Hideaway bakery seemed snobby and very short. I normally tip well and I love little bakery’s but will not be coming back. And would recommend if you’re hungry and want food in a timely manner-don’t go. Even if the wait time would have been stated that would have been incredibly helpful.

Classic Eugene bakery which almost always has a bustling crowd.

Pro Tip: If you arrive early in the morning, ask to get their day old menu

Nice cool bakery but beware of cross contamination if you're gluten free. Bread is tossed in the open kitchen so it's really difficult for them to keep flour off of gluten free items. If you're sensitive to gluten, take a pass.

I wanted to love this bakery, because it’s right near my father‘s home so when I come from New York, we could have beautiful pastries in the morning with our coffee. While the people that work there are lovely, I don’t at all see the hype.

The cinnamon bun, the croissant, and the espresso in the latte, make me realize that people in Eugene don’t know delicious coffee and pastries.

Maybe I am just spoiled from living in New York City and Europe (Paris, France and Florence, Italy) but this bakery needs something WAY more than flour and sugar, it needs taste. Don’t waste your time in the line. It is a cute little location, however.

Came here with my boyfriend and ordered drinks and a breakfast sandwich. Had a pleasant experience with our first barista. Drinks came out fast, but I waited nearly 20+ minutes for ONE breakfast sandwich (for takeout). I would like to add that when we first got there there was no line. It started getting busy and customers who arrived after me got their named called and I was still waiting. At that point, I sent my bf to just ask for a refund as we had to be somewhere soon. I think they finally remembered we were waiting so they rang the buzzer thing to pick up. When we got the sandwich it was cold and looked like it had been sitting out. Again I just wanted a refund at that point I didn’t want it remade.

When asked for a refund, a different barista was rude, argued with my bf about “not waiting long enough,”. She said she had to take the sandwich back to give my refund (Okay?? I didn’t want a cold sandwich) When he asked for her manager she even lied about not having a manager.(so shop runs itself apparently???) Another employee came over, was defensive at first, but after hearing the situation agreed we should’ve gotten a refund and was shocked that the first barista even took my sandwich back since she wasn’t supposed to.
This was so unprofessional and the staff needs to be trained better regarding customer service! My bf was VERY respectful about the whole situation and just wanted our money back and head on our way. Instead we were met with hostility for no reason whatsoever! Like cmon we didn’t even demand the sandwich to be remade this was such a non issue.

One of the BEST Bakery and Breakfast eateries we have ever visited.
The owner Mazzi and his staff were kind and super nice.
We were visiting from the NJ/NY and recommended to go here by our niece who lives in the area as the best in Eugene. I would say one of the Best in the Country!
