Homemade bread and pie. Open early.Good food. Local gem is my favorite place for breakfast and lunch!

"dirty" eggs. Eggs should be clean and look like eggs. Not grease and leftover particles from whatever they were cooked in. Needs a good cleaning. The psychic poster outside the front door is tacky.

Everything is homemade! The breads are delicious, Marion berry sauce delicious! Been stopping here for years now and this place is worth the stop!

There are winners and losers in life. This place was not a winner. We looked for a quick place to grab a quick bite when leaving town and this place seemed to get decent reviews.Upon visiting, it felt like we went into a time warp. The restaurant is eithers someone's home, or was. It was tight and extremely dated. Wasn't welcoming or well laid out. Walls are "decorated" with some interesting art projects that looks like they might be for sale?Upon being seated, there was immediately drama between one of the wait staff and some rough looking customers. Arguing over discounts and bugs in food. It ended with the waitress telling the customers to get out and never return. That should have been our cue to stand up and leave. We stuck it out, to our detriment. We ordered breakfast and coffee. Waitress was trying her best, but, with the drama and lots of talking to customers about random things, was frazzled.Food came, two kids pancakes, corned beef with eggs, and a biscuit with honey and bacon. As we started in, I thought I might have had COVID. The coffee and corned beef had no flavor. The eggs somehow didnt have flavor. The eggs were way way underdone, rye toast was overcooked and blackened, and the corned beef was about as dry as beach. Even the coffee was like water. I grabbed my kids bacon and tasted it, at last, flavor, so, didn't have COVID.Kids didn't finish their pancakes, trying them, I knew why. Rubbery and wet.We choked down what we could, paid, and left. You win some and lose some.... this was not a winner unfortunately.

Awesome breakfast place. Cool little house turned into a restaurant. Everything is made from scratch and you can taste the difference. You get way more than you can eat. I’d eat here again if I was in town.

Small restaurant that looks like someones home. Extensive menu. Expensive as well but huge portion sizes.Stuffed Hashbrowns w 2/eggs and mixed berry pie

First - not a single COVID observance in sight. Second, while the staff were as sweet and kind as could be, safe food handling practices seemed to be an afterthought. Aside from that, the eggs were burned, the chicken fried Steak was very greasy and over cooked, the biscuits and gravy were on the south side of marginal at best, and the gravy had never met sausage and clearly not been seasoned and was pasty. Should have swung through Burger King. Won't be back.

The restaurant was recommended to us by a local yesterday when we asked where to go for breakfast. It is a small family restaurant only open for breakfast and lunch. It is easy find right on highway 101. Our first surprise was the very long and complete menu, seemed to be something for everyone. Next we were surprised when we were asked what kind of toast we wanted- choice of three breads baked on site daily. I chose steak and eggs at a very modest price, my wife had a grilled cheese sandwich- it was brunch time. My meal was excellent as was my wife's. Service was quick and friendly, we will be back next time we pass through Florence and will recommend it to our friends. Note that the several less than glowing reviews were from years past when it was operated by different owners.

If you’re thinking of going to Brown Hen, just don’t. Kathleen and Nina’s has the best breakfast in Florence hands down. Fresh homemade bread is unbeatable and the sourdough makes incredible French toast. All food is fresh, never frozen, and the women running this place pump out great customer service and amazing food. Will be coming back as long as they’re around❤️ 100/10 You will not regret eating here!

Hubby and I both had the Costal French Toast and it was the best food we had on our entire trip! Delicious!! Friendly, helpful staff made our visit a pleasant one. Highly recommended!

Despite being close to the ocean the lack of salt was astounding. I hate to leave a review like this but I'm just going to tell the truth. We thought we'd found a hole in the wall jem. It turned out to be an old (and extremely dirty inside) converted house that looked like people may be living in. The service was extremely slow, it took almost 30 mins for them to take our order. The food was totally bland and underseasoned. The country gravy just tasted like hot cream no salt or herbs. The biscuits were gritty and undercooked. Really a big disappointment on all fronts.Service: Slow and unfriendlyFood: Underseasoned, undercooked and unappealing.Cleanliness: Dirt in every corner, kitchen was dim and looked very unsanitary. Rooms past the bathroom (past the washer and dryer because it's a house...) smelled like cigarettes.3 strikes.

Great local place!! Food was great service was good!! The pie was awesome!! They don't have a big selection, but what they have is great!! Much better then some chain outfit that doesn't even make there own food.

Food was great. Good size portions. Service sucked the waitresses didn't really speak to you they were walking so slow they look like they were going backwards they would stand at one end of the table to serve you your coffee or your meals and the people at your table had to hand you your stuff cuz they wouldn't walk around a place in front of you if they could find some new waitresses that that restaurant be at 10:00 and it was a little on the spending side for four adults and one child we spent $85 for breakfast
