Wonderful and friendly staff. The smash burger was great. My wife had the pizza and said it was one of the best pizza’s she had had in a long time.

This was a nice surprise for breakfast. Had a really well prepared Eggs Benedict. Nice room looking out to the dunes, great service.

You have to queue up to order and I wanted a beer . The assistant manager rattled off 4 local beers and I said “ I’m not familiar with those.” She just stared at me. I was getting rattled because people were waiting. A nice young woman behind me in line helped me make a quick decision but I got rattled and paid before I presented a $15 dollar coupon from the hotel. The assistant manager then refused to honor the coupon. The people who are managing this place should not be in the hospitality business.

We like the new restaurant! Good food, nice sized portions for the price, and they are not super expensive. We had breakfast once with table service and dinner once with counter service.
So far the only comment we can make is that we would love it if they got larger coffee cups. When we were there a few weeks ago, they were tiny (harder for old hands to grip the handles) but refills are free.

So while it’s a nice room. I do have qualms with it. The plug ins next to the bed are so loose I can’t plug anything into it. My cell phone has to charge across the room. The water pressure in the bathroom is nonexistent unless it’s the toilet. Bring clips to clip the curtain shut. And the path to the beach is met with a mud puddle that I couldn’t traverse so beach access didn’t happen. The hotel is very clean, the pool was nice and has a wheelchair access lift which is wonderful. Love the play area for the kids and the toddler pool. Splash pad was down ( we didn’t have kid with us, so it didn’t affect us). I have never been to Florence and I heard great things about this hotel. I would rate it a 6/10 but I’m not familiar with other hotels in the area, I’m just rating off other hotels I have stayed at. Hopefully the issues I ran into were flukes and not a common thing.

DS is a fantastic Resort! Easy access to a beautiful beach, great for walks, good parking and easy short walk to the wide hard sand without treacherous climbing through any rocks or driftwood. Probably the best place on the coast for folks with limited mobility! There’s even a David’s chair and new ramp for chair access! There’s a live webcam to check conditions for beach walks although it would be nice to view a flag or windsock on camera or perhaps add an inexpensive weather station cause it can get cool and windy on the OC. DS is my happy place!

HIGHLY RECOMMEND 5 Stars they upgraded me to top floor, amazing Great view, comfy bed the team at the front desk extremely helpful felt safe walking alone on beach only sad part was their laundry room was out of order.

Absolutely love driftwood shores. Here now and ordered dinner yesterday. Would really like our money back on this one! Three fish and chips and one fish tacos.$80.The fish and chips were frozen fish sticks and only two. If you like$18 fries though, that portion was generous with fries similar to mcds.The fish tacos look nothing like the pictures on Google. Not breaded, no sauce, no flavor, I don't even think they used salt. The limes were good though. I read other reviews after the fact and yes, water coming from the taco is accurate. They were so wet they fell apart.The recent reviews are accurate. Maybe it was better over a year ago and they have new cooks?!As far as the hotel itself, couldn't be happier. But for over priced food, definitely make the effort to get into your car and drive elsewhere.Not loving leaving a harsh review but I'm hoping staff will see and address this. Also a discount into our room bill for the food would be a plus.
