Surfside Restaurant at Driftwood Shores

So while it’s a nice room. I do have qualms with it. The plug ins next to the bed are so loose I can’t plug anything into it. My cell phone has to charge across the room. The water pressure in the bathroom is nonexistent unless it’s the toilet. Bring clips to clip the curtain shut. And the path to the beach is met with a mud puddle that I couldn’t traverse so beach access didn’t happen. The hotel is very clean, the pool was nice and has a wheelchair access lift which is wonderful. Love the play area for the kids and the toddler pool. Splash pad was down ( we didn’t have kid with us, so it didn’t affect us). I have never been to Florence and I heard great things about this hotel. I would rate it a 6/10 but I’m not familiar with other hotels in the area, I’m just rating off other hotels I have stayed at. Hopefully the issues I ran into were flukes and not a common thing.

DS is a fantastic Resort! Easy access to a beautiful beach, great for walks, good parking and easy short walk to the wide hard sand without treacherous climbing through any rocks or driftwood. Probably the best place on the coast for folks with limited mobility! There’s even a David’s chair and new ramp for chair access! There’s a live webcam to check conditions for beach walks although it would be nice to view a flag or windsock on camera or perhaps add an inexpensive weather station cause it can get cool and windy on the OC. DS is my happy place!

HIGHLY RECOMMEND 5 Stars they upgraded me to top floor, amazing Great view, comfy bed the team at the front desk extremely helpful felt safe walking alone on beach only sad part was their laundry room was out of order.

Absolutely love driftwood shores. Here now and ordered dinner yesterday. Would really like our money back on this one! Three fish and chips and one fish tacos.$80.The fish and chips were frozen fish sticks and only two. If you like$18 fries though, that portion was generous with fries similar to mcds.The fish tacos look nothing like the pictures on Google. Not breaded, no sauce, no flavor, I don't even think they used salt. The limes were good though. I read other reviews after the fact and yes, water coming from the taco is accurate. They were so wet they fell apart.The recent reviews are accurate. Maybe it was better over a year ago and they have new cooks?!As far as the hotel itself, couldn't be happier. But for over priced food, definitely make the effort to get into your car and drive elsewhere.Not loving leaving a harsh review but I'm hoping staff will see and address this. Also a discount into our room bill for the food would be a plus.

We stayed at the hotel. My family liked theirs, my fish and chips was soggy. My drink had too much syrup. The staff was friendly.

Lovely view of the beach. Food was delicious! Had the mushrooms, Halibut, and chocolate tort. So good!! Megan was a fabulous server. If I'm in the area again I would 1000% come back.

The food was good and they are proud of it. No where in Florence has AC.

This is a story about how a server can change everything. The first time we went to this restaurant the other day, it was a not good experience and our service was awful, you can read my prior review all about it.. Last night I wanted a snack, and since we were staying at the hotel it was most convenient, so we reluctantly went back..In walks Megan. She was such a breath of fresh air. She smiled and greeted us warmly first thing. I told her how happy I was to see her. We got coconut shrimp and a cup of soup. She checked back with us frequently and each time, she was so friendly and polite. I enjoyed talking to her every time she came by. She was like that with all the surrounding tables as well. I could tell everyone enjoyed her.What a difference in experience!! Y'all have such an asset in that girl, make sure you keep her around as long as possible. Its funny, we were chatting with her and she mentioned she's only been a server a couple of months. Well, I'll tell you what, she's the best server I've had in probably years!!If you go here, ask to be seated in megans section.. Way to go Megan.. If I were your mom, I'd be so dang proud of you!!

The good: Beautiful view... We both ordered steak. It was actually cooked correctly, and tasted pretty good, which I was impressed by. The drinks were really good The bad: We went in the restaurant about a half hour before closing, which normally I wouldn't do, but we were starving and it was our only choice. They definitely made us feel like we were imposing coming in that late. There are 2 hamburgers on the menu. A regular one, and one with jalapeño and bacon and sausage and spicy mayo. I wanted a normal bacon cheese burger (weird craving at the beach huh) the waiter told me I couldn't order a bacon normal cheeseburger! They obviously have bacon, so why not?? He said if i want bacon I'd have to order the other burger, and pull the stuff I didn't like!! That was waaaay too complicated for me, so I gave up and got steak. We ordered coconut shrimp as an appetizer. It never came, we were later told it would be taken off the bill, and I could have desert on him. I think we were charged for both the shrimp and desert. Our bill was 99 bucks for 2 drinks and 2 dinners, but we were rushed out so quickly we didn't even realize it until after we signed and left. Oh also at 99 bucks for 2, Instant mashed potatoes should not be a thing

Really bland food considering the price, got the fish tacos and was begging for flavor. Plus the fish was dry. Waiter was nice though

Positives: great view of the beach and ocean.Drinks were good. Waiter was nice and attentive. Cons: Three people tried the chef inspired fish and chips. Sounds good right? NOPE! Never order them! Since it was on the beach somehow we expected better than McDonalds but we were very disappointed. Will we back or send a friend there? No way

I judge restaurants by distance and gravy for breakfast the clam chowder for lunch and steamer clams for dinner. potatoes in my chowder were fairly hard and undercooked. a pat of butter upon presentation would have given it a flavor to liven up the Pasty flavor that the chowder base had
