McMenamins Ironwork Grill

I always hate leaving reviews for restaurants because I know the management often places the blame on the server and line cook and not themselves. Let me be clear, the servers and cooks are overworked and underpaid, they did more than you could expect of them.

The quality, variety, and creativity of food across ALL McMenamins locations has decreased over the last ten years.

So whoever is at the very top of the dining side of McMenamins should be rethinking their strategy. Because to me it looks like they are cutting corners, wages, and purchasing less local fresh ingredients.

Wonderful setting, fantastic food but it took a while to get the food. Usually service is faster at McMenamins.

The food is poor quality and over priced. If you are hungry it won’t kill ya, but it isn’t good.

We were a party of 11. We had just attended my Grand Daughter's volleyball state play off games. Everyone enjoyed being there! That building itself is Amazing! Food service was great! Loved the Ruby beer!

We were sat at a dirty table to begin with. I had the steak fries and my steak came whole, not cut in strips. No cherry in my daughters Shirley Temple.(half the reason she orders them). My moscow mule came in a glass...strange! None of us loved our food. Our multiple servers were nice thankfully.

Fast, friendly service. The food is always delicious, although medium rare prime rib came out as medium, but otherwise everything was great.

They put Heinz in the Portland ketchup bottles. Just… don’t lie. It’s weird. And VERY noticeable. Food quality has definitely gone downhill while prices increase and portion sizes decrease.

Pretty good burgers (give them a 4.5); excellent nui nui mocktail mojito. Excellent service. A noodge pricey $5 more than elsewhere for the same) but you're paying for atmosphere; so we weren't surprised.

I stopped for a quick bite on the way to set up for an event nearby.
Sat myself and thumbed through the numerous adds that look like menus and have been on the table far too long to be sanitary. Server was prompt and I got an ice tea. The stir sticks were toppling out of the over stuffed sugar container. I ordered the blackened chicken Ceasar salad. Fairly weak offering there as well for what was a $20 salad. Tiny, dry chicken greasy with limp, over dressed romaine and way to croutons.
Can't say I really appreciated the outdated decor either.
Another place I can check of the list, but nothing noteworthy there overall.

I love the ambience here. The decor, the lighting - it just all comes together. The prime rib French dip was super good, and the dessert options make it hard to choose! Our server was a very pleasant young man who gave us top notch service. Will of course go back again!

We were pleasantly surprised to find out we were just 5 minutes down the road from The Lodge McMenamins. We ate at the Ironwork Grill - bonus, we were there for happy hour after 9pm and feasted on a handful of food items. Great vibe and great service.

Had breakfast there with friends. One of us asked for honey for their tea. The honey that came was hardened at the bottom of the plastic jar. It was terrible to see that a place like that would not declare they are out of honey and would bring a dried-up honey that cannot be used. The sides of avocado amount to two half-slices of avocado. I ordered my eggs over medium and explained it to the waitress and asked if they could not do it I would rather have them scrambled. She said they can do it but when the over medium eggs arrived, they were very over easy - so I winded up feeding my plate with the yolk.

The atmosphere was okay though. I will not be going back to this establishment.

This is a decent option for food if you're staying at the hotel - has decent cocktail options and has some good food options. That said it wasn't anything amazing - for how eclectic and fun the hotel is - the food does not match that. I can't say I'd ever seek it out if I wasn't staying here.

Service was excellent though - engaging, fast, and very attentive.

Real good medium rare burger. Highly recommend.
