Does not have the coconut french toast anymore that I read online about and was the reason I went there and was dissapointed. They also want $9 for one egg and one pancake on the kids menu! I wanted to walk out but had a hungry kid. The staff was friendly and the food wasn't bad.

Super loyal local

We went into the Parkside last night at 5pm. We are locals and have eaten here for years. Since the latest ownership changed - the place has really changed and after this experience I understand why the place is empty most of the time any more. There was 1 car in parking lot, the dining room was empty with a sign that said "see bartender for seating" - noting the dining room was open until 7pm. We were going to meet a friend who had requested to eat there for a birthday celebration. We stood at the door discussing whether or not we wanted to eat in the dining room or go to the bar area. As we were discussing a person appeared and remarked - Yeah, the dining room is open until 7pm are you eating?" We had never seen her before and she didn't identify herself - apparently she was the bartender. She threw menus down at the first booth past the door, again, the dining was dark and empty. She left toward the bar. We sat down, however, my husband, who is a big guy doesn't fit really well and the couple we were meeting are not tiny people either - so we moved ourselves to a table with chairs. She came back in and seemed annoyed that we had moved ourselves (? not really sure - she was snarky when we came in) - I explained we were going to have a hard time fitting in the booth so we had moved. She then announced that she was there alone so it's probably going to be a long wait for service - mind you there is 1 car in lot besides ours - guess the bar could have been full...? But that was pretty crappy way to start restaurant service tho. She then spit words toward me - "Are you ok?" I responded - Yes, are you? trying figure out why she was hostile. She then walked off toward the kitchen - the cook is standing in there and she talking to him. At the moment our friends arrive- she comes out and says "You guys can go somewhere else - I don't want to serve you." And I said - are you kidding?? Our friends come in and we have to explain what just happened! They are like that is nuts! And said - uh. seriously. She has walked off at this point the cook was just standing there at the window - we waved and I told him - you're gonna have a hard time making money if you're telling customers you don't want to serve them! - His response - shrugs his shoulders. IF one of my employees acted or said ANYTHING close to what this girl did to MY customers - it would be a very short career for her. It is important to point out that none of us in the group of 4, whom are all locals who have frequented Parkside in the past have ever seen her. Cooks girlfriend? Daughter or granddaughter of the owner? I don't know. But one thing is for sure - there are SO many other options. There are 4 less locals who WERE supporters of this business thru good and bad times. Someone in ownership needs to know their employees are asking people to leave without serving them - we are NOT a big enough community to be skipping business. Holy cow. It was truly an unbelievable experience and sadly one that we have been hearing very recently. We never had a bad experience there before and have always enjoyed going there. Until last night. Come on folks. You've got some VERY big problems. Super RUDE Employees that don't want to work AND an empty dining room!!! The death of business is coming for you! Time for new staff- unless you LIKE to have an empty dining room on a Saturday night at 5pm!!!

Overall, food was great and I enjoyed it. I had the captain's platter with tater tots. The cod and scallops were juicy and lightly breaded with great flavor. Clams had good seasoning and interesting breading and texture (not sure if that's typical). I'm not a fan of coconut shrimp, but it was made well if you like sweetness with the shrimp. Tater tots were crispy also. Server checked on our drinks and made sure everything was alright so great customer service.

We'd been staying in a Yurt at Cape Lookout State Park and I wasn't ready to go home yet, so we cruised north along the coast, walked out on Kilchis Point and read the interpretive signs. Eventually we got hungry and racoons had gotten our eggs and muffins. Parkside was the first place that was open on a winter weekday, and boy were we glad they were. The waitress had only 2 tables seated when we came in and traffic stayed light. She was fantastic, punctual and humorous. My eggs came out over easy like I asked. The food was not special, but we were hungry and it was just what we wanted: comfort food. Nice folks happy to have winter work in Garibaldi. I went the wrong way coming out of the bathroom and discovered the lounge, on the back end of the building by the railroad tracks. Same homey feel.

We read reviews and decided it was a good place to eat dinner. I ordered the steak strips with a loaded baked potato. The potato came out lukewarm with only bacon. I had to ask for butter and sour cream (which was frozen). The steak straps were good.My husband ordered a club sandwich which looked great. He said it was really good. The waitress was nice but didn't go out of her way to be a great server. She never checked on us and asked us how dinner was.

Stopped in for lunch on 10/09/2023 on the way out of town. It was one of the few places that was open for lunch on a Monday. We got the Steak Strips and the Chicken and Chips. The food was good and our waitress was friendly. Okay prices for being a small town. We also ordered their Clam Chowder soup, which we remember was very enjoyable. We were also able to use a pre-paid Visa card, which was nice.
