Food: bottom line - food doesnt match the environment- very low end for such an elegant and special atmosphere. One would expect more. Kids menu had naan pizza as an option - wasnt good but pizza caught kids eye. A four year old, 10 year old, and two adults agreed it wasnt good. It ended up wasted. Other dishes we tried included a chili which was decent, a tomato bisque (also fine), and an artichoke feta dip with naan. This food was on par with a lower end or average mcmenamins type bar food.
Service: we were seated right way without reservations- that was nice. We were served timely and could pay and leave timely. I could pay without tip pressure.
Atmosphere: its mt hood timberline lodge so its amazing

Bottom line - food menu needs redesign to meet the mood. It needs to be higher quality.

For 8 years we have come to Timberline, and this is likely our most frequent spot at the hotel. The past few years we were disappointed with the high prices and low portions which felt like eating at Cascade. This year, however, was a significant improvement and it’s almost as good as it was when we first came! They have brought back the hardy sandwiches and the huckleberry lavender spritz, and they are the great quality that they were 8 years ago. I understand that prices are always inflating, but $26 for a sandwich is a bit much.. Overall, I’m very happy with the improvements!

The Mac and cheese was bad, the cheese tasted weird. How do you mess up mac and cheese?

Had a late lunch at Ram's Head Bar after an afternoon of skiing. The setting is fantastic as the restaurant sits on the second floor of the Timberline Lodge. The food was solid, and the service was good. The views down below on the lobby and out the window on to Mt Hood are spectacular!

Nice for being the nostalgic hotel & great view , that's about it. Service was meh (hire more people?) , food over priced for what was had. Brought mom here for the first time ,we waited hour for soup & crab dip...
Everyone was nice but scratching head where the disconnect was in service.

If you want to spend 30 bucks on a chicken sandwich that will give you food poisoning (I've been a linecook for 13 years I know when something is precooked and reheated)

You really can't beat a bite to eat and warm drink from the balcony overlooking the inside of one of the most iconic Works Progress Administration's lodges. The Ram's Head Bar inside the top floor of Timberline Lodge's main room is breathtaking. If you're visiting for the first time it is a must and worth it for the views any time of year.

The dishes are classic upscaled pub fare and several vegan/veg options. Food and drinks focus on the region.

I’m glad we’re not the only ones who feel they were treated poorly at The Ram’s Head.

Quick Summary: The atmosphere is great until your server arrives. Beer is cold, yet expensive. Food is highly overpriced for what is offered. If you don’t have ski boots/ jacket on, they don’t want your business - & they aren’t afraid to show it. Not going to waste our money or time in the lodge again.

Our family & some friends spent the afternoon on Mt Hood & had never been into the lodge before. We were very excited to explore & be able to have lunch with a view.
The lodge wasn’t extremely busy, it was a sunny day around noon. We made our way up to The Ram’s Head to find a table to order some drinks. We found a comfortable spot on the sofas with coffee table. Nobody asked us if we needed anything, no greetings, no water. So my brother waited in line for drinks & water at the bar which had about two people waiting. Bartender did not seem enthused with serving the guests waiting. The wait was long, which was fine, we weren’t in any hurry. My husband arrived to our table & caught a waiter to ask if they had pizza since we didn’t have menu’s. He said yes, but downstairs, & you can bring it back up here. My husband said great & headed down. Our friend joined us with her baby & we chatted for a while. Suddenly a waitress stops after passing us multiple times & blatantly says, ‘You can’t sit here with a baby, this is a bar. You did a good job trying to hide them.’ We clearly weren’t hiding her, clearly we’re not going to serve a five month old our drinks. It was an odd exchange to say the least.
We apologize & said we didn’t know since it’s just a sofa with coffee table. So she said we had to leave or find another table. My brother went to the host & asked for a large table since our entire party should be joining us soon. Quickly we were seated by a window & we thought that would be it.
The same server quickly followed us with her pad & pen & asked what our orders are - again, we just were seated with these new menus we had yet to review. We let her know we’re going to need a minute to decide. She was clearly annoyed by us, & gave the impression we were only going to be a waste of time by taking up one of her large tables.
She reverted back to ignoring our table for the next 15 minutes even when more of our party joined us. Tables around us were served happily with a great attitude. We didn’t understand how an honest mistake of sitting ‘in the bar’ led to this. This continued until my husband returned with a pizza- she couldn’t get to our table fast enough. ‘That can’t be here, that’s a pizza from downstairs, you cannot bring outside food! This is a restaurant & we need to sell OUR food.’ Woah, Heather - two people confirmed from this restaurant & downstairs that he could bring that up here. She said we need to leave & eat it downstairs. After all the trouble of moving tables, finally getting comfortable, our party joining us, she wants us to leave… again. This starts to feel like we clearly are just not welcome at The Lodge. Our friend plainly stated that he had been waiting to order food from her but she had yet to stop by until now. She stared at the pizza & rolled her eyes, fine what do you want to order???
… this goes on & on with our server Heather.
I think you can imagine how this afternoon went, & by reading other reviews to get a clear picture.

I hope management can make a change to the service provided. I understand that everything is expensive right now, that’s out of our control. We are happy to pay for the experience offered- but not at the cost of being treated so rudely. It was unacceptable.

I’ve been coming here for years since I was a child. It’s a novelty, for sure. Amazing if you want to sit and enjoy the beautiful views, hungry, for an hour. The drinks and cocoa are amazing, and the food is nice, though it can be hit or miss. The service is virtually nonexistent. They constantly forget to bring basic requirements - not bringing plates for appetizers, miscounting silverware, didn’t refill our waters until we finally got our food, by which time my glass had been empty for most of the wait. I don’t fault the staff - there isn’t enough space to service a high demand day, and I can’t imagine the kitchen situation. They are unable to squeeze between some of the tables up here. The lodge is very old, not structured for a highly functioning restaurant. The staff is irritable and often overwhelmed.

I wish I could say it’s better in the summertime when it’s not as busy, but in my experience, it’s extremely consistent in quality.

I love the Ram’s head as a restaurant. I love the snow cap dream, and the bruno’s brownie drink is amazing (though mine came out lukewarm after a 25 minute wait). They’ve changed up the menu recently, and I ate the macaroni and cheese which was very tasty - the food has improved over the years.

Atmosphere is amazing. I always have a good overall experience because I’m sitting with my family, talking and experiencing the lodge.

TL;DR: Amazing atmosphere. Food is ok, but overpriced. Drinks are great. Service sucks, takes forever. Consistent; I always know what to expect.

Worst customer service i’ve ever experienced.

I never care to write reviews about restaurant but the service was genuinely so awful it was only right to.

I had a party of 5 plus my 7 month old child with me and everything started off fine, our waitress come and got all our orders and brought us our two Hot Chocolates relatively quickly, but after taking our order is where everything went bad. Our food was brought would individually which is understandable given there was a few people all around the place, we had ordered two Chicken Sandwiches, a Tuscan Pasta with chicken added, and two pulled pork sandwiches. After waiting around 15 minutes all the dishes had arrived besides my pulled pork sandwich, I didn’t think too much about it until about 10 minutes later when I realized they must have been busy and just forgot my sandwich. After another 5-10 minutes my friend tried getting our waitresses attention to ask how much longer it would be but we were ignored. Finally I let another waiter know about my sandwich to which he said he will go check on it. 10 more minutes had passed and at this point I was getting irritated so while I saw my waitresses passing by I got her attention and told her my food never came out and at this point I didn’t even want it anymore because my party had already finished their meals, to which she replied “I’ll take that off your bill”. After that she brought the check and left it on my table and I looked over it and saw a $4 “Service charge” so I asked another waitress about what that was for to which she responded “I’ve never seen that before, let me ask someone” after coming back she told me the charge was “ for the preparation of the food and something that’s automatically added. I was already annoyed but at this point I didn’t even want to be in the restaurant anymore so I left cash and waited for my bill with my son while my party went and used the restrooms. They came and cleaned off our tables and I just waited and waited for about 10 minutes until my son got fussy, at that point I saw another waiter walking by and asked to check on my bill. My bill was $113.85 and I had left $120, finally after 5 minutes my original waitress walks by just tosses the bill on the table and walks away not even acknowledging me. That was what was the most frustrating part, not ONCE did she come by and ask us how service was or if everything was ok, and then SHE TRIED TO KEEP MY CHANGE after giving the worst service ever. I ended up leaving and thought I always believe in tipping waiters, I lift $0 as her tip because of the disrespect and blatant disregard for her customers, and because she had already charged me a $4 service fee.

Overall very unpleasant experience and would highly not recommend, also the food was kind of a let down as well.

I mean, it's definitely a place you need to go to. Go for a hike, a ski, a walk through the forest at the top or the base of the mountain, and then drive up and take in the view, and have some tasty fancy eats. Watch the sunset on the mountain peak or on the valley below. It's so romantic and beautiful and special. And I bring anyone who visits to this place if they like nature, outdoor activities, or some occasional fancy eats. It's a great place to celebrate anything.
I highly recommend the appetizer chicken pops. They are so nom nom delicious and a pretty good deal. Also, the carrot soup is an escape from reality. Yeah. Go.

We were here for the hot cocoa because when you're overlooking the top of a snow-capped Mt Hood, it's the perfect cozy drink. We also shared the cookie that came in a metal dish, warm and covered with ice cream. Everything was perfect.

Wheelchair accessibility: I hurt my leg on a hike, but everything was easy to get around through the use of elevators. It looked to be handicap accessible.

My husband and I went to Timberline to see the lodge. We decided to get a drink at the Rams Head and was given menus to order. We had a hot chocolate and beer that were both excellent however there was no conversation from the server. There were two men behind the counter that spoke to themselves the entire time. Worst bar experience I had ever had.

Not a well-run establishment. Two people ordered the same beer and different ones were brought out and added to the bill. A couple of flies buzzed around. Service was kind but a bit sloppy. The food wasn't great either, especially for the price. Obviously the view is half of the charge here, and it's nice and cozy inside. But you can get that vibe from the parking lot or the rest of the lodge if that's all you're after.
