“I highly recommend stopping for a sandwich at the High Mountain Café, Bakery & Deli in Government Camp. The word "sandwich" doesn't usually excite me, but these sandwiches are delicious, especially the hot ones. They also serve a variety of breakfast sandwiches. Unfortunately, they have been shortening their hours, since not many people stop there after skiing. They used to be open till 4 pm, then cut down to 3 pm, and now they close at 2 pm. But if you ski hard and get tired by 1 pm, come and try this delicious food. Or, ski down the ungroomed Glade Trail to Government Camp and have lunch here before taking the Mt. Hood Express bus back to the Timberline ski area.Located diagonally across the street from Charlie's Mountain View Pub, and right next door to the Ratskeller. This is also the building where Hyalmar Hvaam, the inventor of the first safety binding, had his ski shopVegetarian options: There are several vegetarian options on the menu. Also, the proprietor and cook is very flexible in customizing the sandwiches to your needs.Kid-friendliness: There are several kid-friendly items on the menu. Also there is an amusement room right next to the eating room.Wheelchair accessibility: There is a set of stairs at the entrance, but right next to the stairs is a lift for wheeelchairs.”

“This place is awesome and they always have a to go menu for our dogs! Which in summer are always welcome in their outdoor area. The food creative and spectacular utilizing local plants and forest and humanly taken care off animals -and they have their local “mug club” Name on your mug - can’t imagine our home up at Government Camp without them”

“They brought back table service!! So much better now. I hated waiting in line and constantly paying for another drink or waiting in line for appetizer and then going back for drinks and then again for food. THANKS SO MUCH FOR BRINGING BACK TABLE SERVICE. Wish they would allow us to order from both menus. No fries at the bar... kinda weird. Have to walk next door and stand in another line to get fries. Would be cool if we could order from the other food at the restaurant next door without having to leave the bar. Especially if you do not have fries... and regular bar food at your bar. The Torta was amazing. Wish I could have had fries ;)”

“The food was pretty good. Got the kale salad with grilled chicken. For the price ($16), I thought there would be more chicken or a full sliced breast, but it was cubed and not much volume. The flavor was good, though.I also got the large french fries ($7), which were quite good. It was a little too salty for my taste, but the other seasoning was spot on.Service was quick, and employees were friendly. The bartender hooked me up with a straw for my pitcher of ice water. She's truly amazing. There were a lot of people in there, and it was very loud. No fault to the establishment, but not my particular cup of tea.Vegetarian options: Yes.Dietary restrictions: Not specified on menu. I tried to avoid gluten and dairy as best I could.Kid-friendliness: There's a couple of pinball machines and tvs with sports. There were a lot of kids yelling and having a great time.”

“We came to the lodge to look around at the views and last minute decided to have lunch. Was very surprised it was a buffet!!! It was worth the price, several salads, many hot dishes, fresh vegetables, and two kinds of meat...pulled pork and beef in a demi glaze. Atmosphere was warm and welcoming even though we had no reservations. Overall quite a wonderful meal. The service was quick always friendly! We will definitely return!!!”

“I've been wanting to get the nachos after seeing them delivered to other people's tables the number of time because they're huge. But they're not that good it's pretty deep volcano of nachos and they get pretty soggy pretty quick. The rest of the food is pretty good but not great. But you can't beat the view and the atmosphere.”

“Lovely spot, solid offerings. But Judy was more visibly intoxicated than any bartender I have ever seen. Judy should not scoop chips with bare hands after sneezing behind the bar at least six times, and ideally would at least notice having spilled salsa on the ground during her table bussing twirl. All part of the charm, can’t wait to come back.”

“Kinda sad about all the bad reviews about this place. Glad I didn’t read it before going otherwise I would have never gone. Yes we waited a few minutes to get seated but to me that’s normal from a busy popular place. Our food did take some time but it wasn’t terrible. I’m guessing people these days don’t know patience. I’ve done service and medical and I can see from both sides. Can’t please everybody these days and everybody wants everything “now”. Came on snowmageddon day and it was 0 degrees outside and weather was worsening as the day went on. It was me and my hubbys anniversary and haven’t been before. Didn’t know what to expect. We were both hungry and just came from a long drive. We had the hot chocolate snow caps, artichoke dip and beef sandwich, which were all delicious. I take ozempic for diabetes and that shot makes you full in a few bites but I managed to gobble everything up. I was very grateful for the hardworking staff and and the delicious meal with a great view. Had an amazing anniversary date with my hubby and went home. This place officially holds a place in our memories and hearts.”

“This place gets five stars just for the location. The inside is incredibly small and can hold maybe less than 10 people uncomfortably. The prices are reasonable here and there is plenty of seating outside such a really cool and unique way to celebrate a run on the slopes.”

“Great atmosphere, great place to meet new friends and have a good relaxing break with a good selection of beer and food. I deducted a star because the girl working there provided me with one of the lowest customer service experiences I have seen. I didn't notice that a window pane was out, making for a walk-up ordering service, I was asking out loud to my friend how we ordered, we were not sure. She literally was staring at us, looking like we were inconveniencing her by wondering how to order something, never even said hello or anything. I was asked if I wanted butter on my bread and I said yes please. There was no butter in sight upon receiving my food. She had set the tray in the window sill, I wasn't sure if it was ready at all because she kept adding stuff to the tray. Then she just left the window, I didn't know if she was getting anything else (like the butter I did not get) but nope, she just walked away after the tray was completed. I had to ask if it was ready as I was confused she had turned away for such a couple minutes. She was everything shy of being verbally rude to me. One of the worst customer service experiences I have had honestly and I had been in customer facing customer service environments for a decade! A shame to see being she works at such a cool location. Sad. I still tipped, which I shouldn't have. I hope her night got better.”

Beer Stube Camp Creek, Rhododendron Bar & Grill • $$
Camp Creek, Rhododendron - 0.91 miles

“Best nachos on the mountain, so huge! They have affordable prices and the view off the deck is great watching people on the rope tow park. The day time lady bartender is super friendly and efficient. Only problem is some of the food runners are shy and instead of yelling out numbers they run through the busy crowd with food looking rushed. It's a loud bar, don't be afraid to speak up.”

Vertical Restaurant & Sports Bar at Mt. Hood Meadows 14040 OR-35, Mt Hood Bar
14040 OR-35, Mt Hood - 4.79 miles

“I would have given MHM a 5, except for one thing: their chair lift on the beginner slope--Buttercup--is the one of the worst I've ever experienced. It dumps people out over a dropping slope, which means that if you don't get out at just the right time, you're dropping several feet. You can see people constantly falling and splayed out at the end of the lift. I myself got dropped a couple of times and banged my head hard on the ice under the lift. If I hadn't had a helmet on, I'd have been concussed and probably knocked out. At one point, a more senior operator was chewing out younger fellow b/c he wasn't slowing down the lift and people were piling up. But honestly, it's the design of the lift that's the issue. The other two lifts I tried, on harder slopes, were a breeze. The fact that this is on a beginner slope is insane.”

“This one is for Dana and whichever kind-hearted chef helped her work some magic on Feb 2nd, 2019. I came in with a very strange request to buy a cup of vegetable oil so I could go back to the camper and cook dinner for my kid. Dana got it. She made it happen. Dinner was awesome. I make it a point to never eat in the lodge at a ski resort, but because of this customer service, I'll be making an exception for the 'Stube next weekend.”
