Great family vibe. Great Tots covered with Chili, cheese and sour cream. Rental shop staff was knowledgable about bindings and adjustments needed. Had to get my gear adjusted from last season. Single lift so hard to get misplaced. Lots of beginners everywhere. They have a seperate area for lessons which is super nice to take lessons away from the public.
The Summit area is part of the Timberline ski area, and those familiar with the Wy’East day lodge will immediately recognize the similar layout and design. The ski/snowboard terrain is excellent for beginners, and as a warm up for the more advanced runs up top for intermediate riders/skiers. There are no black diamond runs. If you have a season pass, fusion pass, or day pass, you can access the lift, and there’s a complimentary shuttle that will take you to the top and back down. If you want you can also use the Alpine Trail run at the top to get back to Summit, as it goes all the way down. In the spring you can take the Palmer lift to the highest accessible point that Timberline offers, and through connecting runs go down the entire mountain and to summit. While not required it is polite to tip the shuttle drivers. Cash is preferred, but some do accept digital tips as well.
If you do not have one of the previously mentioned pass options you are allowed 1 walk up run down the summit terrain, or 1 run down from the top. You will not be able to use the lifts or shuttle though. Be aware that the lodge at Summit is closed on Tuesday’s and Wednesday’s, so you will not be able to purchase a day pass from the bottom on those days. Doing more than 1 walk up run, or run from the top, without a pass will result in being asked to leave.
It is busiest on the Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, and the lot does fill up quickly. You will need to arrive before 09:00am to be able to guarantee that you’ll find a spot on those days. There is no overflow lot, so once the lot is full you will need to drive up to the main lodge for parking. During the week however there is plenty of available parking, sand holidays.
Cafe was reasonably priced relative to resort pricing. Lots of communal seating at live edge picnic tables, with a view of alpine run.
I lost my phone, and the staff were super helpful on monday
Came back Thursday to find someone turned my phone in. Thanks for all your help, everyone
Cute ski area perfect for new riders. Summit Pass is easily accessed off of Highway 26 next to the gas station at Government Camp. Summit Pass is also the bottom where you finish from when you drop from Palmer, welcome to the 4540' club! iykyk
We were hoping there was sledding or tubing. It's not available there, but they did point us to a place. That was nice.
Great family ski area! Affordable and great terrain!
My family are yearly patrons of Summit Pass and Timberline that purchase season passes for several years now. It’s unfortunate that we had experienced this occurrence today with a ski patrol employee and a very rude manager at the summit. My husband and I currently have a parent season pass and my daughter has a season pass as well. My son who is 5 years of age has a free timberline pass.As patrons of the summit who purchase a season pass allow us to enjoy our winter activities with our children together. My husband will wear the parent pass to take my daughter up the lift to ride down the mountain on their snowboards. While they both are up on higher elevation, I take my 5 year old son to the bunny hill who also wears his pass. I escort him to the tube and he is experienced riding through the conveyor belt by himself while I wait at the bottom of the bunny hill for him. We have done this for many years with my daughter as well when she was younger and I abide by the safety rules.Today, I have done the same thing; however, I was approached by ski patrol to move behind the netted area. As a carrier of a parent season pass, I’m aware and have signed on the waiver as I do every year. The patrol man was not familiar with a parent pass which is surprising for an employee to not know the what the purpose is of a parent pass but is checking on whether patrons are carrying their passes. It’s very upsetting that he said that he will “make it hard for me” as a patron here who has a parent season pass which is very absurd and quite frankly this sounded like a threat which very unprofessional. I also don’t appreciate how the manager approached me either and told me about the confusion I had about the use of the parent pass. I let him know that I am not confused about the parent pass because my husband is using it while he’s on the ski lift with my daughter and I am just escorting my 5 year old son to the conveyor belt and I am not riding it. I have done this in the past with no issues previously. Again, I have signed the waiver that’s required for a parent pass. don’t appreciate how the manager handled the situation he raised his voice at me and I had to ask for permission to wait for my 5 year old son to come down.Additionally, there was another family there that didn’t have a parent pass but one parent had purchased a lift ticket to escort their child on the conveyor belt while the other parent was able to walk up and down the bunny hill without a pass. This is unfair because I was told differently and was given a hard time and was told I could not walk up and down the bunny hill without a pass even though my husband and I have a parent pass. This situation defeats the purpose of have a parent pass. Many families come up here for the very same reason we do which is to take our kids and teach them how snowboard or ski because summit is runs are easy and the bunny hill is easily accessible. Seems like the up and changed the rules in one day that made for a lot of upset families.I normally would give this place 4 stars out of 5 but due to my utterly disturbing experience, i have rated them 1 star and I will not be purchasing as my family our annual season pass at Summit. Management and the ski patrol need to immediate training on customer experience.
0 stars for the restaurant. They have a hot dog with a bunch of toppings. I asked for a hot dog with just 1 of the toppings. They wouldn't sell it to me because "it was too busy". Defies logic to me. Should make it easier, right?Ski area is.fine for beginners. Very slow single lift though, but pass is cheap. 4 stars for slopes.
Lost my phone on the mountain and came down here to get some help. Not their job to help find my friends and family, but they could’ve had at least some come decency and empathy and make an attempt. Nobody even offered a mobile phone. You guys are terrible

Best beginner hill great ticket prices and friendly staff
Great place to work on your skills or just start. They have a tube hill too. The summit lodge has great food and staff!!
Wasn't there with
Restaurant: Ordered ribs, it's incredible how they can taste like they were microwaved for 35 minutes and also be cold. It was so tough you could make Chuck Norris jokes about it. I even cut the inside of my mouth on something sharp like a bone end.
