I ordered the Quesábirria, a 12 oz Consommé 12oz and Guacamole. SOOO GOOD! You get 4 nice pieces of the Quesábirria. It was very tasty! The Consommé 12oz was flavorful and the guac was AMAZING! When I come to town again, I will order from here! Also fast delivery from DoorDash!

I've had an unpleasant time in this place
I ordered a Birria ramen to go. And they gave me a Maruchan to take away.
I only received pasta and consommé.
I went back to the parking lot and told the people that they charged me but since they were closing they attended to me from outside.
To tell me that the cook did put birria in it, I told him to check it but he didn't want to open it, the tub was full of noodles and you could see in the cook's expression that he was upset by the complaint I made, no one took the delicacy to open the container.
They didn't let me pass
They told me that I had it when I didn't
Finally, they told me that for this occasion they were going to help me with a little meat on the side, but only this time.
As if they were doing me a favor.
The meat was cold and it was like it was being given to me.
Very badly.

I recently visited El Jefe and had a pretty solid experience overall. The food is both tasty and affordable, which is a nice combo. They offer a variety of salsas, including aguacate, habanero, and a few others that really added some nice layers of flavor to the meal.

The flavor of the meat was definitely a highlight. The birria stood out as my favorite—rich and flavorful. The al pastor had a good seasoning, though I found it a bit stringy in texture. The sope was a little on the firmer side, perhaps fried a touch longer than needed, but that could be the style they’re going for.

The place itself is cozy, clean, and the staff is friendly, making for a pleasant atmosphere. I also like the branding and logo—looks sharp.

Overall, a great spot for decent food at unbeatable prices. Definitely worth a visit!

Great food and service. Nice shift from "normal" Mexican food.

Be careful when ordering food from here cause there website will randomly send your order to a completely different location (in this case the one in Gresham) and they refuse to give refunds after the order is put in.

We got dinner from here and we were both very satisfied with the quesabirria and tacos. The beans and rice were also amazing.

El Jefe Birria & Tacos has some strong points but also left room for improvement. The wet burrito was absolutely delicious and a highlight of the meal. However, I was disappointed that the birria plate came with store-bought corn tortillas instead of freshly made ones—fresh tortillas really make a difference.

When I asked for a cup of ice water, I was told they only sell bottled water, which felt inconvenient and disappointing. Additionally, the food was served on paper and plastic plates, similar to what you’d find at a birthday party, which detracted from the dining experience.

The birria meat could have been a bit more tender, and while they do provide salsas, they come in tiny plastic containers. A salsa bar would have been a much better touch, adding to the overall experience.

On the positive side, the food was served fairly quickly, which I appreciated. There’s definitely potential here, but some adjustments could enhance the overall dining experience.
