The Gresham location is now the only La Carreta still around that I am aware of. I have been going to La Caretta for over 30 years. I was very disappointed to see the SE Portland location close. Great food! Best Mexican food in town. Chips and salsa is all you can eat and is constantly being refilled. The atmosphere is loud and crowded. Booths are small. 4 people fit but it's cramped. It was also very hot in the restaurant. Drinks are well made and there is a large selection of exotic drinks. Prices are reasonable. Take out is just as good as eating in the restaurant.

Free chips, salsa and ice cream! The service was PHENOMENAL. Servers were friendly, food came out fast and our water was always full.
The restaurant was clean.
The food was excellent. The salsa was tasty, the carne asada and pollo had delicious flavors. There was a ton of it too, so we have leftovers. It was a little on the spendy side, but it was worth it for the excellent service.
We will be back!

We went in on Sunday October 20th 2024 and sat in the bar, The place was empty. Generally the food and service top notch. Not this time took 10 minutes to get chips and salsa which were the best part of this whole meal. I ordered #13 combo beef enchiladas, What a disappointment. Zero flavor, Wet boiled hamburger, zero enchilada sauce, We asked for some enchilada sauce on the side and the waiter brought us some this had no flavor or flair. The meal was bland, wet and soggy and tasted worse than hospital food. I didn't eat it and packed it up and took it home for my dogs. You can do better.
