Stopped into this restaurant while on vacation in Gresham. Immediately, I was surprised by the odd aesthetic of this restaurant. It looks--and smells--like a nursing home recreation room. It just was not a good vibe from the beginning, but I tried to shake it off because what does weird old carpet have to do with food, right?
So I ordered the sesame tofu. I will say, the waitstaff--contrary to the other reviews I have seen--were lovely. And when the meal first arrived, I was pleased with how perfectly cooked the tofu was.
But the sauce....please believe me when I say it was abhorrent.
I do not know if this is how the cook intended for this dish to taste, or if there was an accident, but the experience was not unlike drinking from a hose full of raw vinegar. There was a bit of sweetness, but other than that, it was just sharp and acidic. I made myself eat half of it because I was ravenous, but my taste buds tingled unpleasantly for the next half hour after I left.
Hopefully it was just an off day, or an off dish, but at the very least I would recommend skipping the sesame tofu, if not the restaurant.

My husband and I ended up eating here out of sheer luck, but I'm glad that we did. The service was great, the food was delicious, the portion sizes are more than worth the price, and I love that they start you off with a pot of hot tea and a glass of water.

Great place to relax and a place to have a large crowd. Great family atmosphere, and you can see all the food cooked through a huge window.

I was excited to try the food so I called to place a to go order. I asked the price for a “family dinner” and I thought it was reasonable, but before ending the call asked to confirm the price again and she raised it. When I wanted clarification about pricing the lady on the phone was very rude and condescending as if she hadn’t given me a different price at the beginning. I told her I no longer wanted the order due to the price change she just hung up.

I have been coming here for years and have never once been dissatisfied. Their food is delicious and served in an orderly time. Their kitchen is impeccable and spotless. THIS is the place to go to.

Sat down for a quick appetizer the treasure plate for 2..the rude server bought us the sweet and sour sauce ..we tasted the sauce and it tasted like it came from a can horrible after taste...when the platter arrived we got 1 piece of shrimp each ..tough bbq pork 1 piece each..tough beef stick one piece each..the chicken in foil tasted horrible..then we recieved 4 small spring rolls..which were the only thing that was good...I have worked in Asia restaurant for years...worst food ever..don't spend u r money

Once in a while, we love to order from Szechuan Open Kitchen. Our favorites are the Sashimi Beef and General Tso's Chicken, and they’re always as good as we remember, with the same great flavors. The service and atmosphere are okay, but the food keeps us coming back!
I wanted to give this place a good review chose them over the panda express right next to them thinking the mom and pop type shop would be better but unfortunately not the rice and the noodles where dry and I didn't really feel like eating it until we refried and seasoned it I assume it was just a bad kitchen day but it definitely made me think twice about coming back.

Shrimp under cooked food is terrible just picked it up never again shame on you guys if I could give no stars i would please shut your business down go home and we asked for a refund and this chick went full no understand GF what a joke i was probably the only customer they had today please be careful they will send out under cooked unsafe food

I have been coming here for years. I'd give it 5 stars every time I dine here or get take away! My absolute favorite dish is hands down the Sesame Beef. Plus I've taken multiple friends and family here just to show it off! Picky eaters have loved the chicken fried rice. Gluten free attendees have gasped at the deliciousness of the menu GF options! I'll have you know, I'm not one for dining at the same place too often, I like variety but every year for at least 1 birthday meal amongst friends I choose this spot!! Will definitely be coming back!
