We had the pleasure of dining at the Reedsville Cafe this morning for the first time. A very unique and long-standing history here. We had the country fried steak and eggs with perfectly made country gravy as well as a pancake combo with plump sausage and eggs. Everything was delicious! Jan took very good care of us, and was funny, attentive, and an enjoyable part of our breakfast. Food, service, and atmosphere all 5 star.

The Reedville Cafe began as the Shack Tavern in 1934, later becoming The Crab Shack around the late 1960s before the Van Beveren family, who owned the business since 1950, officially renamed it the Reedville Cafe in 1990. The restaurant, known for its American classics and seafood, was sold in early 2025 after being a family-run establishment for over 70 years.

In April, Tim Sapa officially took the reins of the classic American diner off Southeast Tualatin Valley Highway, stepping in after decades of ownership by the Van Beveren family. Known for its hearty comfort fare — from omelets, pancakes and Benedicts in the morning to burgers, burritos and pastas later in the day — Reedville Cafe has long held its place as a neighborhood go-to, serving up nostalgic charm with broad appeal.

The Reedville Café is so much more than just a restaurant — it’s truly a cornerstone of the Hillsboro community. Recently, they partnered with us to provide a work assessment for my client, who is living with disabilities and working on reentering the workforce. The owners and staff went above and beyond to not only welcome him but to give him a meaningful opportunity to learn, grow, and gain confidence. Mckenna in particular did an incredible job walking him through the process, offering guidance with patience and encouragement. It is rare to find a business that is as committed to supporting individuals as they are to serving excellent food, but Reedville Café embodies that spirit wholeheartedly.
The kindness, warmth, and genuine compassion shown by the owners and their entire team speaks volumes about their character. They are not just running a café — they are uplifting people, building community, and creating opportunities for others to thrive. To my client, this was not just an assessment; it was an empowering experience that reminded him that there are still places in this world where people care deeply about others.
And beyond all that, let’s not forget the food! Reedville Café has been a local favorite for years for a reason. Their menu is hearty, fresh, and consistently delicious, and the service is always outstanding. Every member of their staff is friendly, approachable, and genuinely attentive, making every visit a pleasant experience.
I cannot thank the Reedville Café enough for their generosity, heart, and commitment to both great dining and community involvement. This is the kind of place we should all be supporting — where you feel like family the moment you walk through the doors. If you’re looking for a delicious meal served by some of the kindest people you’ll ever meet, Reedville Café is the place to be.

I have returned again and again to this cafe. My family loves the burgers and the breakfasts. I dream about the two cobb salads offered here. And you cannot go wrong with tots and their ranch dressing. A friend of mine brought me a container of Reedville Ranch for my birthday. She knows me well. 💛

The hot chocolate and French toast combo were delicious. The presentation on the hot chocolate was fun as well! I will say they had several dining room sections and we were sat in the most cramped part of the restaurant (to be fair we didn't ask to be moved, but it's a weird section regardless.) Last, for being sort of a classic diner which has been there for 91 years you would expect a better music selection. Modern pop songs like Taylor Swift and Sabrina Carpenter don't exactly fit the vibe. Overall, it was a pleasant experience and for visiting down here it provided a nice meal.

I had the eggs Benedict. The sauce had separated and wasn't good. I won't be returning.

Hair in my food, yuck! They brought me fresh but I lost my appetite by then. 10 min wait turned into a 20 min.. Don't know if I'll ever be back. First impression? Coffee was good though.

The service was amazing, the food was great, and the atmosphere was pretty quiet. The staff all around was helpful and friendly during breakfast hours, will come back and check out their lunch and dinner foods.

Microwaved food, small portions. Overpriced for the quality and quantity. Honestly, it's the same quality you'd expect from a 1-2 star hotel.
