I haven't written a review in a while and I enjoy writing positive reviews for restaurants because the servers rely on the service that they provide and a negative review can have new customers choose to not frequent to an establishment.I went to The Dugout after a long day, hoping wrap up my week with a beer and take a break from the world.A patron verbally harassed me due to my political beliefs. This individual hurled offensive language at me, creating an environment that made me feel unsafe and unwelcome. What made it worse was the lack of intervention from the bartender, who witnessed the incident but did not take any action to de-escalate the situation. This is not a safe bar for everyone and I hope that this does not happen to any other person.

I don't have high expectations of the strip-mall bars of Hillsboro and, generally, I'm not rewarded for exploring them. But the Dugout at least tries to make it a bearable experience. I first stopped in here after having my taxes done at the H&R Block next door. All I wanted was a sandwich and a beer, and the Dugout was happy to oblige. The sandwiches are simple: Deli meat and cheese on Franz bread. Fine. There's a ton of decent IPA on tap because it's Oregon, Coors for the surly grandads and Widmer Hefe for the regulars. Other than that, you're either watching what's on the sports channels at full volume or the music's on. I think I caught some early baseball, which was terrible, but what can you do? Over the years, I've stopped in while picking up tools and parts at Ace or groceries at the unpopular Albertson's. Hillsboro is a horrendous town for sandwiches and I honestly can't recommend getting one here. Jersey Mike's might be the closest thing to a passable everyday sandwich in this burg, which is a tragedy given how hard some places are trying. If you're making your own bagels, but it takes you 25 minutes to put sliced meat and cheese to bread, that ain't it. If you can assemble things faster, but your roll is an artisan baguette that fights each chew and rips up the roof of your mouth like Cap'n Crunch, that ain't it, either. The Dugout isn't a great sandwich, but it's both fast and there. It isn't long on atmosphere or ambience, but it'll work if you need a quick lunch and reason not to linger. In a town where most of the strip mall offerings are either BWW wannabes with way too many TVs and kids or lottery dives that deplete your faith in humanity, the Dugout is a welcome slice of mediocrity.

Has been a couple years since we had been in there, was unimpressed that last time but decided to give it another chance. Sat for 40 minutes waiting for a soup and house salad, Friday, the soup is already cooked and ready to go, and a house salad, nothing complicated. It was not busy in there, maybe 4 tables of patrons.

Lot’s of options for bar food. Probably one of the best in a 1 mile radius.Their basic American no frills cheeseburger loaded with standard options is unbeatable. And you get your choice of cheeses. It doesn’t seem to matter who is in the back cooking, quality/delicious every time!!! The kitchen always delivers!!!Going on 8 months since I found this hidden gem. The always pleasant staff is what brings me back food is a bonus.Side note: One of the few places with three or four Fort George brews on tap all the time.

Laid back neighborhood atmosphere. The cook served us and was funny, friendly and overall made us feel like we've been here forever (first visit). The food was yummy with large portions at reasonable prices. This will likely become our go-to hang. As an added bonus they have a variety of games and big screen options. Highly recommend.

The place was good to catch a game especially if you're with friends. I had the tri tip sandwich but definitely wouldn't order again; nothing special about it.

Good local dive with karaoke and good food. The daily food and drink specials are pretty good. Max and Kayleigh are some of the city's best bartenders. I meet a lot of really cool people here and I'm always taken care of.
