Waited 1 hour and 20 for 30$ pasta and salads… the restaurant was empty and our appetizers came well after the entrees were served. Is that a joke? They even started clearing plates when they’d only been on the table for 15 minutes. We asked the wait staff if the restaurant was short staffed tonight and they said not at all! As of 2025 this place has fallen far from what it once was 😒
The view is amazing. The food is good, but a little on the spendy side. Service was good.
This is a pleasant lunch venue. Worth the stop if you are on a day trip through the Gorge.
The server was attentive and informative regarding menu questions.
The food was good. It is not fine dining as much as it is comfort food.
The dining area has great views of the Columbia River and garden landscape.
The facility is clean and well maintained.
I enjoyed my snowy lunch at this restaurant. I plan to return in the future.

Judgemental staff, gave the wrong check multiple times and then got annoyed when asked for the correct check.

We stayed at the hotel and had breakfast here, because it was easy. Don’t do it y’all. It is terrible and expensive, especially for what it is.
The “beignets” are not beignets- they are hard little pucks. The salmon they served with the bagel (not lox) was so dry we left most of it.
Worst meal I’ve paid for in a long time.

As a professional wedding planner, I had the great joy of working a wedding here in July and I was BLOWN AWAY by this venue, not only for it's views and architecture but also by it's company culture, customer service and love for clients. I have added this venue to our VIP Venue list for 2024+2025 which grants their clients a $200 discount on all wedding planning packages simply because we can't wait to work at this venue again!
Hotel food with a view. Nice staff, beautiful grounds. Very natural and Oregon like.

Amazing meals at Simon’s. We had the Osso Bucco & Beef Burgundy and both were fantastic. The meats were tender and sauces flavorful with really tasty mashed potatoes and veggies. Service was prompt, friendly, and attentive. View is incredible. Definitely will be back.

I wasn't going to post a review but I feel it's a disservice to others by not sharing my experience. I wanted to take my mother somewhere nice for Mothers day brunch, somewhere with a great view and good food. Shame on me for not reading reviews of the restaurant before making a reservation.
I foolishly assumed a level of food that would surpass Sheri's restaurant with their charge of $55.00 per person.
We arrived and they could not find my reservation, despite receiving a text message the day before wanting me to confirm, which I did. That was really not a problem since they only had 6 tables being used.
The food was sub par to say the least. Plenty of options but absolutely tasteless and cold. Food was kept in chaffing dishes that had burners under them but the fuel had either run out or they were not turned on. The servers were kind but began disassembling the food stations within 35 minutes of our arrival. So incredibly disappointing!
Eat here if you don't care about the quality or flavour and just want a nice view.

When: Thursday, April 25, 2024; Party of 2 Adults, with reservations made via Tock.Ambiance: Very nice location along the Gorge Waterfront... lots of photo opportunities. Decor is classic 1930's or 40's era decor that stands the test of time.Food: I ordered the Fish & Chips (Oregon Rockfish) and my wife ordered the Hood River Harvest Salad, with Chicken. The Fish was delicious and tasty. My wife mentioned that her strips of chicken were a little too salty for her taste, but other than that, her salad was good.Service: We arrived at around 5:15, and the restaurant was relatively empty. Our server didn't take our drink order until about 5:45. Servers were friendly and professional, but overall, it just lacked any consistency.

Sadly I can’t recommend the restaurant. My selection- fish and chips- was mediocre at best. My table mates enjoyed their selections. The serving was generous. I will hazard the guess that the modest dessert offerings are manufactured offsite and delivered frozen? Our server did her best, but the restaurant (even with very few customers) was short staffed and management seemed to have planned poorly in hosting a wedding while failing to provide adequate staffing for dinning room customers.I remember the Columbia Gorge Hotel and Restaurant from its reopening in the early 80’s (where I, incidentally, tended bar for two years) when both service and food were held to very high standards. Those fine dining days are long gone as is the fine decor- elegant tables and chairs, beautiful chandeliers and plush red carpeting. I’m not sure what the current theme is. The tables are Formica and the chairs a washed out lavender, something one might see in a low budget sitcom strip mall restaurant scene. The hotel’s setting, fortunately, can’t be altered and so that remains a highlight. My distinct impression is that the current operation is in a no man’s land; the operator seems unwilling or unable to invest the capital and take the risk to create the fine dining venue of the past which the location and building would seem to dictate and has chosen instead to offer a mediocre dining experience in a low budget atmosphere which accentuates the restaurants shortcomings. I will not return. The hotel’s storied ambiance has disappeared.

Great food! The minestrone soup and clam chowder were amazing! The rest of the dinner was very good as well. Cozy atmosphere, nice staff and best of all, the stunning view! Its very quiet compared to our goto restaurants in Portland but we dont mind while enjoying the delicious meal at a good price!

Not much of a review person but had to set the record straight on the nonsense 3.7 rating I'm seeing.Food was straight up great. Had the andouille mushroom ravioli and my wife had the seafood pasta. Both plates were delicious and what you'd be expecting from a high end restaurant. Also ordered the kafta(?) Which is some pita bread hamburger type Turkish dish which tasted like kinda like tacos and was amazing. Stayed here on a holiday getaway special and also got a free bottle of wine with our 2 entree dinner which turned out to be a $70 bottle of wine which was an awesome surprise. Also the hotel is really old, classy, and unique. Worth the visit alone even if you're not staying here. just checkout the pic from our room.

My husband and I had our wedding reception at the hotel in 2012 and we’ve stayed at the hotel and ate at this restaurant ever year ever since. But 2023 will be our last year here. The menu used to be high class with steelhead, high end steaks and other seafood dishes. Now, it consists of an overpriced burger, tough cheap sirloin steak that’s inedible, and fish and chips that’s mostly made of soggy batter and hardly any fish. The food tastes terrible, is cheap, and it’s way overpriced. It’s almost laughable for a hotel of this class. Very few people dine in this restaurant anymore and now we know why. What a shame.
