The Valkyrie Wine Tavern

This was our first time here after driving past it for years. Don't wait years to come here!!! Savanna the owner is an inspiration with her enthusiasm for wine and reminder to enjoy life! My husband and I both had the custom wine flight and it did not disappoint. We took two bottles home and cannot wait to go back to get more.

Savannah is just a delight host, she's taught me tons about wines from her wide variety of imports all around the globe, and her descriptions are absolutely spot on. Also the atmosphere is very cozy, it's impossible to say the least about her and her tavern. Definitely in my list of favorite spots to sit in at historic downtown independence...

What a cool space, run by an awesome woman!
We had been wine tasting all day but none of them were all that exciting. The wine flight by Savannah were all winners!
The venue is spacious with cool and interesting art, furniture, and walls. Come in and look around!
Eat before you arrive. Hang out on the funky couches, under the taxidermy buffalo!

The classiest bar in town! Savannah is super fun to hang out with and has a huge, varied selection of local and international wines. There is also space for events.

There is no food available, so be sure to eat dinner first or bring something to munch on.

Casual and funky with an absolutely amazing selection of wines. There is no food at this establishment but the owner allows for you bring in what you'd like. She is very knowledgeable and will teach you as much or as little as you like. Vintage furniture, quirky chill music and great new friends to make in this small community! Definitely worth a visit!! If you're in Salem or surrounding areas, this is a great outing that is just across the river. Easy parking and local shops and restaurants to visit while here. Love this place!

This business is a gem. Savannah knows her wine and the wine tastings are both delicious and educational. She has a large selection of wine available by the glass and by the bottle.The business doesn't have food, but you're free to bring your own food and enjoy it with wine, seltzer, cider, and/or beer available on site.The wine bar also has a larger area available for events.

I've lived in Miami, Costa Rica, New Zealand, Taiwan, South Korea, Hawaii, and other places, but have never found such a unique and charming atmosphere then this place in Independence, Oregon. The owner is not just an expert at her craft, but a real steward of it too.... Thus, people come from all over the valley to visit this little gem...

Up and down the Willamette valley you will search for a one stop shop with personality, grit, and of course an ever changing wine lineup. This is your stop. The owner does a great job catering to all palates and curating a lineup that fits what you’re looking for. Savannah has a limitless wine acumen and will not lead you astray! We typically stop before a large gathering to collect wines to impress and Introduce to others. A lovely, fun place that Independence is grateful to have.

Wonderful wine, excellent customer service, and a lovely quirky atmosphere in what was once a hardware store back in the day. Please keep in mind that food is no longer served here, so come for the wonderful wines by the glass or purchase a bottle to go! There are wines available from local businesses and around the globe!

My new favorite place for Wine in Independence! Owner Savannah is a knowledgable and welcoming host and always has an interesting bottle or two . . . or six, open to sample. I appreciate her unpretentious approach to exploring wine. We tasted Oregon wines and imports from around the world, enjoyed some wine by the glass, and bought bottles for dinner later. The space was formerly part of a Lodge of some Fraternal Organization, and has that fun eclectic vintage vibe with a gold-flecked zig-zagging bar, classic barstools, assorted couches and lounge chairs, fireplace with taxidermy bison atop, suit of armor, candelabras, etc.The kitchen was not currently operating, but check in before you visit to see if that is changed, or if you can still bring in outside food. There are plenty of places nearby you can order takeout from.Put the Valkyrie on your must visit list for Independence and buy some wine!
