My wife and I decided to stop in and try the Sushi here today, after several positive recommendations from friends. We were very pleased with the our meal, it was very good The Chicken Pad Thai was good as well.
We began with 2 fresh spring rolls and were very disappointed. The rolls were a chunk of iceberg lettuce with a couple shrimp stuffed in and a couple of noodles. They were serviced with some kind of soy sauce and when we asked for the peanut sauce that was listed on the menu they said they didn’t have any. Wouldn’t order again. Sayuri's sushi would be considered excellent in a major city. That a sushi bar of this quality should be in a small town in Eastern Oregon makes it even more noteworthy. In addition to serving absolutely fresh fish, the chef at Sayuri takes his rice as seriously as a sushi chef in Tokyo or Taipei. As a Lonely Planet author and self-professed food snob, I recommend Sayuri highly.
