Most places with a view charge a small fortune and the food is convenience store quality. This place has high prices, but the food is excellent! Considering they're up there around 8000 feet, their presence alone justifies the price, but the food is really satisfying. Come early and get the hiking in at the top before food. It's incredible up there.
Great place for a view of the entire area. The ride up on the Tramway is a fun experience although quite expensive at $50 per person for elderly people. The Summit Grill offers good beers and good food with excellent service, and is the highest restaurant in the PNW (8150 ft above sea level). There are two nice hikes to the very summit of Mt. Howard and to a lookout point offering even more spectacular scenic views of Wallowa Lake, Joseph, Enterprise and beyond, however do beware...
Hard to say mu h the weather was stormy and the ride up the swing I ng gondola ride was frightening. Clam chowder helped warm me up bit. Had to stay there till storm passed... could not see any few. The $47 ride up was way more then it's worth. If it had been sunny u could hike around while up there.
