Haven't been to Tavern on Kruse in years. Celebrated my 50th birthday there last night and WOW, color me impressed. The executive chef visited our table, created works of art with his food, the food was fresh, not fried or heavy. The mixture of flavors, fruits, vegetables, sweet, savory. The food was very good, if a little pricey. Service was nice, but rather slow, considering there were so few tables. On the other hand, it was nice to not be rushed. We enjoyed sitting just inside the open garage doors.
We had brunch at 1:45 (last seating for brunch). Our server was great without being overbearing. The crispy Yukon potatoes are delicious! Omelette with veggies was good, a little too much egg for my taste, and I would have preferred more variety in veggies, but it was very tasty. My husband had hanger steak and eggs. He substituted extra crispy potatoes for the eggs and was very happy about that! Great spot for brunch.
