Pretty nice place, seems like it would be way better to visit at night.

Bartenders were amazing and friendly. The ambiance is wonderful.
Found out today that the restaurant we would drive up from troutdale once a month now got rid of all things good. They no longer have Bleu cheese dressing, the chowder is now thicker and 70% celery, got rid of raspberry vingerette dressing. As regulars this was very disappointing and we will now go elsewhere for our meals.

After dining here last night, I can honestly say this was the worst experience I’ve had at any Pelican Brewing location.
The service was awful from start to finish. We were seated, and shortly afterward two other parties arrived. Not only were they seated after us, but they also received their food while we were still waiting. Throughout the meal, our server made very little effort to check on us, ask if we needed anything, or see how our food was.
Unfortunately, the food didn’t make up for the poor service. My burger was mediocre at best, and my wife’s chowder was extremely salty and difficult to enjoy.
This is by far my least favorite Pelican Brewing location. Based on this experience, we will not be returning to this location anytime soon.

Fantastic food!
Amanda was our waitress she was incredibly friendly, full of joy, her positive attitude was contagious, and she was attentive to every detail without missing a beat.
Our drinks stayed full, she checked in at just the right times. It's rare to find someone who is both genuinely kind and exceptionally good at their job.

Food was a hit or missed. I ordered the shrimp tacos and it was so bland and boring. There was no spice and hardly any taste. It also had waaay to muxh of this sauce that tasted like nothing or mayo? Either way, I got grossed out eating it.
My friends liked their food. But then again its hard to mess up a fish and chip. They also didnt have the good desserts left.
I did order the calamari appetizer. That was really good.

Loved the location! I got the clam chowder and Bacon Brie flatbread. Both were excellent, our server was phenomenal, and gave us little to go cups of our sodas without us even asking. It was a great way to wrap up a weeknight beach run from Salem.

Just got home from our dinner at Pelican Brewing. I have been on a hunt for a solid clam chowder bread bowl on the coast- and when I saw Pelican Brewing had one, I knew we had to go. The building is always so breath taking when we go by, so figured in the very least it would be a pretty view (it was! Though it was overcast and grey and the shades were down??).
We arrived at 750pm- they close at 10pm. Service when we first got there seemed great and like the night would go well, but after we ordered our entrees things took a turn for some reason. I don’t know if they let more staff go or what but our server seemed to disappear for long periods. We ordered onion rings (all of their appetizers are $20 which seems wild. I wish they had half portions or something for just 2 people. Maybe they’re used to just having lots of 4+ tops??) and I asked for a sauce and salt/pepper for them and we got them after the onion rings had been on our table for about 10mins (I ate without).
Then after apps it took 20+ minutes for our food to come. We were one of maybe 8 tables at this point (840pm). I saw my boyfriend’s burger sitting in the hot food window literally for 11minutes before we got it. Needless to say the fries were Luke warm. He didn’t want to ask for new ones, they actually tasted really good I can only imagine the flavor if they had been fresh.
As far as my chowder bowl goes the flavor of the soup itself is really great. The bowl/bread was literally cold. I don’t mean room temp, but straight up cold. It came with butter which was also cold. I tried to butter the top portion to eat it, but it just like broke apart (queue the Succession Gala scene “THE BUTTER IS COLD!!”). I asked our server if they could heat it up or toast it and she said since it hit the table they couldn’t take it back (??). I will note she did ask if I wanted some warm toasted points they serve which sounded nice, but they weren’t sourdough so it didn’t quite scratch that itch. For $25 I would think the sourdough bread would be warm? Or in the very least room temp? I have no idea if this is how it is normally served, the sever implied it was which is crazy to me (when I said I couldn’t spread the butter because the bread was cold and… she finished my thought by saying “ya and the butter is always cold”). McMennamins bread bowl is AMAZING and $8 less. The “lid” is toasted and breaded and all caramelized before it hits the table. The soup part is definitely not as high of quality as Pelican’s, but I tell you what overall experience taste and price- way more worth it.
Again, cold bread for the bowl may just be how they serve it, but hopefully they figure out that’s not the vibe.
For the price of the evening ($100 for 2 people- each with 1 drink), we will not come back- but the views are really great (when the blinds are up) and the building is certainly stunning.
