This place used to have decent food, decent portions and decent prices that is all since gone downhill. The ice cream is about the only thing left. That’s even remotely decent. They’re deep fried pickles are literally tiny slivers of pickle and they charge way too much for it. their elk burger is outrageous and it doesn’t even taste good it’s probably at least two days old meat. The waitresses behind the counter always look like they’re overworked and underpaid. The restaurant is always kind of dirty and smells funny they don’t switch out the oil very often so literally my french fries also tasted like chicken tenders and again they overcharge for everything because they are desperate and struggling and their business isn’t doing so well unfortunately they have a bunch of diehard fans that keep returning for the shitty food because they have a shitty taste in what they eat . Don’t waste your time or money here you’ll regret it.

Alf’s Restaurant in McMinnville, Oregon, is like walking into a time machine—if that time machine also made killer burgers. The atmosphere is retro, cozy, and has a definite "small-town charm" vibe that makes you feel like a regular even if it’s your first visit. But let’s talk about the main attraction: the burgers.
I ordered the Western cheeseburger, and let me tell you, it was anything but basic. The patty was juicy, seasoned just right, and had that perfect char that makes you wonder if they’re hiding a grill master back there who’s been flipping burgers since the 50s. The cheese? Melty and gooey enough to make me forget I’m supposed to be an adult trying to eat gracefully. The toppings were fresh—crisp lettuce, ripe tomato, and sweet relish that added just the right amount of tang.
The bun held its own, too. None of that soggy business halfway through. This was a burger built to last... at least until you devour it in 5 minutes flat, which I did.
One thing’s for sure: if you’re in McMinnville and not stopping at Alf’s for a burger, you’re missing out. Also, don’t sleep on their fries—crisp on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and the perfect partner to your burger crime.
In conclusion, Alf’s is flipping fantastic. Just don’t expect to share your burger because, trust me, you won’t want to.

Super cute little drive in style burger joint with great food and excellent service.
Dietary restrictions: They grilled my low-carb bun for no additional charge and served my burger on it to go. I didn't even have to ask.

Truly disappointing to get there and only be told they closed the kitchen 20 minutes before closing. Particularly since we passed Wendy's to get there.

A neat little burger shop with a unique history. Worth visiting for the ice cream alone!

My husband and I had the 1/2 pound burger. I love the sweet relish they use. Always juicy, never dry. Ice cream and shakes are delicious, too! ?
