We decided to try this place because of its high ratings but left disappointed. Competently executed basic farm house food. But portions are small, with no sides…and the prices feel steep—$14 for a bland sandwich you could easily make at home. Nothing special. Menu probably hasn’t change since the 1970s. The strawberry lemonade seems like a canned lemonade with a teaspoon of strawberry syrup… The 5 star reviews are exaggerated.

This has been my favorite restaurant my entire life. The Gobbler Sandwich and a cup of any of their soups is my go to!
It was okay all around. The club i ate was... a sandwich. A $14 sandwich i probably could have made at home but it wasn't bad. Service was fine. The atmosphere was pretty small and bland. The parking in that area was terrible. Probably won't be somewhere I go back to, but there wasn't anything wrong per say. Just nothing special. And for a $14 sandwich some type of side would have been appreciated.

A Must-Visit Lunch Spot in McMinnville!
Every time I visit McMinnville, this restaurant is at the top of my list—and once again, it did not disappoint! In fact, my friend and I loved it so much that we had lunch here twice during our trip.
The corn chowder was absolutely fantastic—so creamy with just the right amount of seasoning. My friend enjoyed the ½ Turkey Sandwich, while I devoured the Chicken Cashew Salad, which was fresh and delicious. The broccoli cheddar soup was just okay, but the tomato vegetable soup was a standout, according to my friend. And let’s not forget the in-house wheat bread—fresh, flavorful, and the perfect complement to our meal.
Our waitress, Andrea, was incredible! I highly recommend asking for her—she was attentive, friendly, and made our experience even better.
To finish, we split a lemon cupcake—our only regret was sharing it! It was perfectly moist, and the cream cheese icing was out of this world.

The Sage has been a staple of my McMinnville dining experience since middle school, and there are many good reasons they’re still around! Serving homemade, quality food in the heart of downtown, they dish out some of my favorite rainy day comfort dishes (hello, broccoli soup!) and options that I’ll never get sick of (aah, the Gobbler sandwich! the Sage salad!). The staff is incredible, skilled, and so kind; they’re engaged with our community and always look for ways to give back.
I can’t say enough good things about The Sage. If you want classic McMinnville, this is it!
