The Backyard Community Food Court

I drove 11 hours from Vegas and I was craving soul food! I walked in and Terry was closing up but he was gracious enough to feed me. I ordered Shrimp Gumbo and WOW, delicious !! TY! I also saw earring I want which I will come tomorrow early & shop ☺️. Looking forward to hanging out here when I come.

A super inviting place that felt safe and restful for parents with 4 girls driving through from out of state. Great food from good folks.

I was skeptical about this place due to the reviews and the food being labeled Cajun. As someone who grew up in Louisiana eating Cajun food, most places just throw Tony's on it and think that's good enough. NOT TERRY! I got his gumbo, and wow... what a blast from the past. These reviews are not wrong. This man can cook, and the food is authentic. Eating it reminded me of home. Thank you so much. I am now a permanent customer.

Genuinely the best burger I have ever had. It's homemade and the service is just wonderful. I give it a thumbs up. 👍

There aren’t enough stars to describe our experience, the vibes are amazing, the owner is one of the most gracious people we’ve ever met, and the food was bonkers good. We were just passing through and would one hundred percent come back just for the Backyard Community.

11/10 honestly. The food is fresh and absolutely delicious. Try the Gumbo, it's the best I've ever had. Lots of outdoor seating with fun games to play. I would recommend this place to anyone.

The food is incredible, my fiancé and I have tried various meals off of the menu and they’ve all been amazing! I highly recommend trying this place, it’s affordable and delicious.

Delicious lunch that hit the spot after a day of hiking. We had the chicken tacos and the Cajun shrimp rice bowl. It's a great local spot with outdoor seating. I will definitely return the next time I'm in the area.

I should’ve taken a picture of my food, but it was too good—I ate it all before I could remember! When the food came out, it was beautifully presented, with obvious care and attention to quality. They even stamp their burgers with a custom mark, which was such a special touch. The food was fresh, delicious, and made with real ingredients—you could tell they use things like organic lettuce and quality produce.

I ordered my son something simple, thinking he might not enjoy the jambalaya since it was had a little spice and he’s only one but when our food arrived, he surprised me by stealing my entire bowl and eating every bite! 😂🤣😂🤣 I had to find the owner and tell him how funny it was, and he responded with incredible generosity, giving me another plate free of charge. He said, “I’m glad he liked it! Good is good. You’ve got to eat too—I insist.” He’s right good is good and spice wasn’t stopping my baby from gobbling up his jambalaya. Don’t let this talk about spice deter you either, it’s not over spicy and he gives samples too! It came with the okra and everything! 😋 we all tried each other‘s food and literally every single thing we ordered was delicious! It was juicy, cooked perfectly, fresh, seasoned perfectly, etc. !!! Yall just gotta go try it lol! I ate my burger in like 2 minutes. It was impressive. 😂🤣

This family-owned business puts so much heart into everything they do. From the moment you walk in, the space feels welcoming. There’s an adorable patio setup with family games, toys for kids, and a laid-back backyard barbecue vibe—just like the name suggests. The owner and his family are warm, kind, and truly care about their customers. This is the kind of place where you can relax, enjoy a great meal, and let the weight of the world melt away. The good vibes are vibing!!!

Beyond the amazing food, there’s even more to explore: a clothing shop, a barbershop, several food trucks, with lots of choices including fruit smoothie bowls. Everything about this place feels genuine—real people, real food, and top-notch customer service.

We also saw a sign that said comedy night so they appear to have themed nights which would be super fun to check out and they do have a little bar too.

To top it all off, the prices are incredibly reasonable. We fed everyone for around $31. In today’s economy, that’s nearly unheard of, especially considering the quality and variety they offer.

This spot is truly a hidden gem in Medford, and we’ll definitely be back! Grabbed a Tshirt too! They deserve more than 5 stars.

I grew up in the Gulf Coast but I never developed a taste for gumbo. The owner of Backyard Cajun have me a cup of his chicken gumbo and I have to say, it is the best gumbo I've ever had.

Cajun food was soo good. Looking forward to trying more items.
