First trip since Clay's relocation to King Rd. The new location has a bunch of perks- parking lot, nice building, comfy warm dining area. Order at the counter, limited menu- but ribs & chicken are the more popular items, who can complain? Decent selection of bevys in a conviently located fridge. Had the combo plate w/ slaw & beans. Came with a nice bit of cornbread & sweetened butter & pickles. The smoke was perfect, the sauce had good heat & the rub had great flavor. 10 out of 10. I loved the beans, homemade and just a bit spicy. Slaw was just boring, actually kinda a nice juxtapose to the other items. Hubby says , mention the napkins! They are up to the task, a real plus. I think this is OK style BBQ, and in my opinion, the Sooner state has some good 'Q!

Not sure I've eaten in a quonset hut before. They're not doing lunch anymore, so the full dinner box had me stuffed. Ribs were tender with a fine rub and smoke. Chicken tasty but sees endemic for bbqd restaurant meat to be just a bit soft. Deep fried poet wedges top notch. I'm pretty picky about cornbread but theirs is a pretty good. Mac and cheese a little dry. Fun selection of canned beverages.

Hands down, some of the best brisket I’ve ever had. And I’ve had a lot of good brisket. I’m a Texas native and before moving to Oregon I lived in Louisiana for 12 years. I was just starting to accept that I would never find local BBQ as good as where I’m from. But I have to say Clay’s brisket and bbq sauce rivals with the best of them. Thanks and we’ll be back!

Amazing food and service. Always drove by this place and wondered about it. Finally went with my friends and we where all blown away. The level of customer service was outstanding and the quality of the food was perfect. The little things like toasting the buns in the sandwiches made it all that much better. The food came out crazy quick and Bill came out to check on us multiple times to see if everything was going good. We will all definitely come back! Thank you Bill and Sherry!

Best BBQ I've had in awhile!! So flavorful even without sauce, and super fast. You can order to go or eat in, and the people are super nice. Not too pricey either for some quality BBQ. I definitely recommend this to anyone that hasn't been.

I had the pulled pork, brisket , along with the BEST potato salad, pickles, and potatoes. They also have some of the best beans and key lime pie! My husband loves the chicken and even though it isn't a fancy place to eat it is FANTASTIC food! The people who work there are very knowledgeable and polite. We go to Clay's at least once or twice a month. The rolls are also really good. We recommend this to many friends! Thanks!!'

This is a low key place that makes the best restaurant BBQ I've tasted since I left TN! If you like true southern smoked BBQ ribs, brisket, and chicken or pulled pork with fresh potato salad and southern style baked beans, potatoes wedges corn bread etc. They have it! Delicious. The portions are generous.

Fresh, unique in portland area, nice seating area and delicious food. I would recommend trying the pork belly bits and the ribs. The key lime pie crust was to die for. Buttery and crisp. Definitely hearty but yummy

Holly smokes!!!! This BBQ is really ! The taste of the ribs are amazing and practically everything was delicious! We also were on the fence of getting the key lime pie and the cashier told us that we would regret not getting it so we ended up getting it... he was right! We LOVED the key lime pie too!

As with every restaurant it is a highly competitive business and some people go out to eat to find the best places and some people may not care but as a critic of taste, texture, and temperature this restaurant gets 4 stars. Their isn’t a oh wow 5 star review brand to this restaurant. I have tried other places for brisket and this restaurant comes close to being amazing but right now to me it is pretty cliche. 4 star review.

Barbecue is not my favorite type of food but this evening I didn’t want to cook. As I got closer to Clays on King Rd I saw the outdoor lights so decided to stop due to this businesses curb appeal. I am a new customer and will tell all my people about this wonderful restaurant, the food was amazing. I loved the coleslaw as it didn’t have a mayonnaise type dressing, it was different but very good. The chicken was well cooked but not dry, the Mac and cheese was very tasty and the corn bread just as delicious as my Mississippi mother’s cornbread. Only issue is allot of folks I know including myself did not know this restaurant was open and because of a tree there is a sign that is not visible from King Road.

Tried two bones of spareribs, in st.louis style.I ate them without any BBQ sauce, yet they tasted okay in flavor, just lacked some moisture as the meat was slightly dried out. I wish they could wrap the ribs for better tenderness.

I really enjoyed their food! Cute little space and was very peaceful eating outside. Collard greens were my favorite.

Nice and friendly staff. They have seating inside and outside. The cornbread was surprisingly moist and tasty. The bbq ribs were fall off the bone delicious I had a double side of potato salad and I have no regrets they offer a variety of canned alcohol , sodas, and water. If you're craving some great bbq, this is the place to go. You'll have no regrets!

They continue to impress me with the flavor and taste!! The service is always incredible friendly, attentive and kind. Every time I eat here the food is so good! The meat is smokey and juicy- fall off the bone type stuff. Their BBQ sauce is my favorite too. The key lime pie is a must too. You have to stop by and try some of their food if you’re in the area, or get your event catered through them! Clays Smokehouse is the best BBQ in Portland hands down
