From the outside, it’s a sign and a set of stairs. On the inside, it’s a lovely, stylish dining space. A staff member at a winery where we’d had a tasting suggested this place, and we really enjoyed it.

There were lots of vegetarian options, and although the menu was not large, almost everything we ordered was excellent.

Standouts included salad, duck fat frites, and beetroot carpaccio (with yummy pickled beet stems!). I particularly enjoyed the wild mushroom empanadas. I’d eat these all the time!

One issue: the farro risotto was very salty. The staff were understanding about this, and everything else we ordered was fantastic.

The wine list was compact, with some real gems on it. Like the menu, mainly local and regional. Very nice!! We ordered a bottle, and enjoyed it with the meal (4 of us).

I would definitely come back, and look forward to sampling the seasonal, regional menu in another season.

Vegetarian options: Empanadas, beetroot carpaccio, salad were all delicious.

Dietary restrictions: Very attentive. Plenty of options.

We decided to do some "research" of restaurants in and around Newberg. SubTerra was recommended to us. I would highly recommend this place. They focus on locally sourced food, so the menu was a little limited, but please don't let that dissuade you from going there. The food was so good. The empanadas were very good, and I could almost make a mask out of them. The salad was so flavorful. I had the gnocchi with meat, and my wife had the sole. She was nervous but she was so glad she got it. We had a nice bottle of red wine, and I finished with the cheese board dessert. I will go there again. The service was excellent and so friendly. The only thing that is a slight negative is that it is in the basement of a strip mall. But who cares about the atmosphere when the food and service are so good.

Simply some of the best food (and gluten free) available!

Try the salad and vinaigrette, I still think about it.

The service and staff were all very friendly and nice! We did not enjoy either of the vegetarian options we ordered - empanadas or the gnocchi. Maybe it’s a better spot for non vegetarians.

We heard this restaurant recently had a change in ownership, and now the chef owns the restaurant. We went here for our anniversary dinner, and oh my word, THE PRAWNS!!! Life changing. Superb service including a magic trick performed by our server for our anniversary. It was a very special dinner, and the food was incredible (and we are foodies with high standards). We were surprised the restaurant wasn’t busier. You need to try this hidden gem!

What a delight, and it's only a flight of stairs down! Nicole waited on us last night, and was the true example of perfection. Flawless service. The atmosphere is very warm and calming, which matches the food dishes. We sampled the prawns, bone marrow, gnocchi, and cazuela. Everything was WONDERFUL! Sorbet and ice cream for dessert, paired with a lovely local riesling suggested by Nicole. 11/10 do recommend!

We were extremely impress by Javier’s cuisine and also the quality of all ingrediants during our dinner last night. The chef showed his skills from the beginning with our starters. Morels were perfectly cooked and seasonned and made me almost cry at every bite. My wife had the carrot which also made us amazed by Javier’s skill. On the entrée side, I chose the Cazuela and enjoyed it completely. It made me order an extra basket of bread just to be sure I would enjoy every drop of its sauce. All seafood were cooked perfectly. Same for my wife’s Halibut. There again we were impress by the cooking team. It was perfectly cooked and seasonned.

I strongly recommend this place to discover the best of what Willamette valley can offer you.

Not impressed with anything at all. Questionable service - very robotic - and not genuine. The fact they weren't busy at all should have been our first clue. The food was oddly presented and the owner was very pompous. Flavors were pretty good but all around no where close worth the money we spent. I'd avoid this place and save your money. Grab Burger King. You'll be better off.

Local fare. Curated menu. Cooked and served with care. Outstanding oysters, seafood. Ordered halibut and scallops. Delicious carrot ? appetizer.

Small but interesting local wine list. Servers were all great.

Tip: Can be a little tricky to find as it’s in a strip center and down a short staircase
