“We actually didn't eat here but the wines...wow, they are incredible! Some of our favorite pinot noirs right now and they're on 2021's so have lots of room for aging. Highly recommend them for this as well as their service and knowledgable staff!”
“Feels like you are at a friend's beautiful house! We went when there was live music, which was a treat. Blooms and brims sell their hand painted hats here too, which I highly recommend. Don't need a hat, they have plenty of umbrellas and shade.”
“The pizza was great. I loved the chewy crust. Beer, wine and spirit are served which was a treat. My wife prefers a spot of gin at dinner. The music was a little rawkus for a family place. 90's grunge straying into Jimi Hendrix. We'll be back. The half chicken entree looks intriguing. If it's as good as the Zeppole desert it won't disappoint.”
“We visited this place with no expectation it would be very good, only because it wasn't our favorite Vietnamese place in another town. We were WRONG! The food was amazing! Really sweet people and really good Vietnamese right here in Newberg!”
“Fantastic dinner selections. Desert looked nummy but I was too full after the main course to partake. I'm going to make a point of stopping in another time to try one of their deserts. The descriptions sound like they would be worth the effort. Parking was closeby and easy. I have a buggered up knee so this was very important to me this trip.”
“This is the second time we've eaten here, but it's been about 7 years since our last visit. The quality of the food was excellent, but I left hungry. We eat coursed meals at Michelin starred restaurants numerous times a year, and I rarely leave hungry. Had to go back to the Jory at the Allison Inn & Spa and order a plate of truffle fries because I was still hungry after dinner. Wine pairings were good, but a little boring. Either my expectations have been elevated in the last 7 years, or the Painted Lady has lost a step. Still one of the best spots in Oregon wine country.”
“Aside from the top tier wine, Reid was BY FAR the best host I have had the pleasure of experiencing. His passion, enthusiasm, and charisma elevated our tasting experience. We had a set of wineries to taste following Penner-Ash, and I was disappointed that Reid couldn’t come with us because our time at Penner-Ash was unmatched. I would recommend anyone to visit this tasting room, from folks just starting their wine journey’s, to those who know everything there is to know about wine. Without a doubt, we will be back.”
“My daughter made reservations for us for a tasting at this winery, located about 30 minutes from downtown Portland. We had a great experience, thanks particularly to our awesome wine guide Joan who was friendly, very knowledgeable, and fun!We did the standard tasting that consisted of an initial Grande Cuvee sparkling wine that made for a delightful start, and then a Chardonnay that was light and fruity, but not as buttery as the California Chardonnays. We then progressed to a series of three Pinot Noirs. We accompanied the wines with an excellent Oregon cheese, pickled onion and cucumber, an apricot spread, some nice bread, and yummy salami. As we worked our way through the Pinots that were getting darker and more full bodied, Joan told us about the origins of each wine and described what we should be looking for as we sipped. I've previously been to numerous distilleries and wineries - prior to Portland, had just returned from a winery trip to Napa and Sonoma - I thought Joan was among the best guides I have experienced as her descriptions were so spot on. If you visit and you have Joan as your guide, maybe you will also be lucky enough to get the bonus pours we received of two additional special edition Pinots. All the Rex Hill wines were exceptional but the added pours were fantastic. Thinking of getting the Rex Hill wine club membership for my daughter and future son-in-law as a wedding present - they would also receive a couple of free tastings as part of the membership and that's a great reason for another visit to the winery.”
“This is a gem! They take exquisite care of even small details of the food. Everything is either locally grown or made by themselves, and each combination is well thought through. They have a nice selection of wines and mixed drinks and a beautifully diverse menu to satisfy nearly any palette .”
“We had a lovely visit here and did end up buying a delicious Riesling, a Gamay and a Pinot Noir. The lady who did our tasting was informative and very helpful. Told us about the history of the place and about the llamas. It would be fun to do an event here as the views are amazing. Would have liked a wider variety of wines to try. We tried 4 Pinot Noirs and one Chardonnay on the tasting menu but ended up buying 2 that weren't on the tasting menu. The llamas are adorable!”
“Long Brewing has some of the best quality beers. Made in small batches, they are elegant, classic brews that don't club you over the head with hops or malts. The subtle flavors are very balanced and satisfying. If you appreciate well-made beers, these are beers you can sip and each taste is better than the previous sip.The brewmaster and owner, Paul, is a super nice and smart guy who knows what he is doing.”
“Out of an entire day, J.K. Carriere stood head and shoulders above every other winery we visited.Spectacular views, wonderful wines, and the hospitality was exceptional. Thank you Tim!”
“The first time we ate at SubTerra, we were thoroughly impressed with everything that they provided. So impressed, we knew we wanted them to be our restaurant of choice to have our celebration meal after our elopement ceremony! To start off, we had the delicious bread and house whipped butter as well as the truffle oil frites. A few of us enjoyed some of the mouthwatering salads, but the entrées were what stole the show. A majority of us had the King Salmon entrée while others had the delicious Gnocchi and Scallops. And last, but, not least, we rounded out the night with decadent desserts such as cheesecake, chocolate cake and Tiramisu. For just being newlyweds, we were given a delicious Elderflower Prosecco cocktail to enjoy, too!SubTerra is a restaurant that really embodies great food and wine to make it a very memorable experience for all who come. Thank you, SubTerra, for allowing us to celebrate our big day there and for us to create beautiful and lasting memories!”
“They are delicious every time! We have gotten most things on the menu. Favorites - carnitas anything, spicy shrimp burrito, posole ? (great broth)- gorditas and their kids burrito is perfect for dinner and lunch the next day.”
“We've been on the hunt for a "favorite" Mexican restaurant since moving into the area five years ago. Ixtapa has been our favorite so far! Very friendly service, great salsa, big portions served hot. The interior seemed friendly and inviting. I liked how they had decorated for Christmas. Not sure why it's so hard to find good Mexican food in the PDX area but it's been disappointing. At least Ixtapa is someplace we can go to know we'll get some solid, tasty food.”
“Wine tasting in Oregon. If you love Pinot Noirs do a tasting here.Came to town for a tasting menu in McMinnville and decided to check out this winery that is always making the Wine Enthusiast lists. There is a beautiful tabby lounging in the sunlight, three pears sitting on the high table outside the tasting room door, a glorious tree breathing the air and casting shade for the tasting table below it, and inside: a wine library of the more exclusive vintages, as well as some amazing music being played in the back room where vats and casks were incubating the next vintages (think Blue Monday from Upstairs at Eric’s).We like our wines, so we appreciated comments on the terroire and the small local vineyards that the grapes were sourced from. For my part, I was partial to the Stardust, the classic Beaux Frères and fascinated by the 2014 GranMoraine Pinot Noir — it smelled wonderfully earthy like umami.I swear there was not a bottle the girlfriends did not like… And to prove the point they went home with seven bottles between them. Each bottle was approximately $90 on the lower end and $140 on the higher end. But those were just our selections. Alternatively, you can pay $55 for the tasting but at that price point why not just get a bottle of some amazing wine. One of the things we learned while we were there is that the luxury brand Artemis has bought the winery. It’s a testament to the quality of their product. But the news was also a disappointment bc as with many in the Pacific Northwest: we love the importance of the local independent wine maker. But survival of the fittest is a real thing so we raised glasses high to Beaux Frères and wished them the very best.”
“BBQ is all about the food, and that’s why they get 5 stars from me. If you’re looking for ambiance or overly smiley people, it may not be your thing, but if you’re looking for great BBQ, this is a great spot. Just go early if you want choices because they sell out of stuff (for good reason).”
“Food and service was amazing! We ran into the owner and his family (which are so lovely) several times during the wedding weekend we were in town. We will definitely be back if we are ever in the area again!”
“We loved it! We came in when it was not very busy, so I cant speak to what it's like during heavier patronage. You place your order at the counter and they give you a number and you seat yourself. They have a LOT of drink choices, so you should be able to find something you like. There are a reasonable number of places to sit for a small restaurant like this. As long as it isnt too busy you shouldnt have problems finding a table. The person who helped us was very friendly. Id recommend looking up their menu online before coming in, as I could see the process slowing down dramatically if the people in front of you cant decide what to order. We had two dishes - shrimp pad thai and a green curry. Both were delicious. The food came out pretty fast Id say. I think their sauces were better than that "other" thai place. The prices were reasonable. We will definitely be back when we are in the mood for thai!”
“I don’t usually leave reviews but after having their La Sierra burrito I knew I had too! Their special green salsa as well was spectacular and made the food even better than it already was! Service is great as well making me feel like home each time I visit!”
“This place is great.Good quality. Clean. Friendly. Relaxing atmosphere. The Katsu is some of the best I’ve had.I haven’t had a chance to try everything but anytime I’m down here for work I go here. Definitely recommend it.Awesome restaurant!”
“If you like tiny flavored balls in your mouth like I do, these Boba tea drinks are addicting with so many flavor options and combinations! They offer tons of yummy snacks; blended drinks are refreshing on warm summer days! My favorite is Pina Colada with strawberry bobas! My taste buds literally explode from the flavor. Boba Fett would approve after a long day of bounty hunting! The dark haired lady is especially kind and hardworking, she for sure deserves a raise! She’s always cute and friendly too, as she blends you creamy ball drinks with a smile. You can tell the owner cares about providing a consistent, quick, and yummy in my tummy experience. With so many food options at this community truck pod, Boba tea is always the perfect choice to wash down your meal hole with.Highly recommend your next family meal, hangout, date night, or refreshment pit stop at Bobablastic in the Newberg Food Truck Pod right in Historic Downtown!DOGS ARE ALLOWED!!!!!!!”
“I have not written a review in a very long time. Although, after visiting La Gran Victoria I had to take a moment to share my thoughts. Both of my parents are from Michoacan, Mexico. Growing up I would be spoiled with traditional dishes daily. In addition to this my uncle would make the BEST al pastor, tripa, and carne asada tacos I'd ever had. Since moving away from home I haven't found anything throughout California or Oregon that was even remotely comparable to what I had growing up... until now.La Gran Victoria is it. My white whale. I genuinely can't believe I found food this good coming out of a truck in Newberg. The food was beyond delicious. It was made so fresh we could hear the meal being prepared from outside of the truck. It also came out pretty quick. Four tacos (two of which were tripa), two massive chile rellenos, rice, beans, half a liter of coke, and dessert for less than 40$. Phenomenal. When I was done with my meal I took a moment to thank Victoria, the woman who owns the truck, for the meal. We began to talk and she told me her story of selling tamales to save up for her truck, making meals with carpal tunnel syndrome so she can sustain her business, and the struggles she faces being monolingual Spanish, running her business, and supporting her family. All of these obstacles worth it because she gets to make and share the food she loves so much. Her passion showed through the food. Although the truck has seen better days what comes out of it is near perfect.I will be going back... a lot. Whether I'm missing home, or need a hangover cure after a long Saturday, I will be there all the time. I would highly suggest anyone check it out and give the staff lots of leniency and love.”
“Tried for brunch for the first time and the schnitzel and biscuit were nothing phenomenal! Would for sure come back again, but skip the Benedict. My guess is we got an off one though not representative of the norms.”
“Awesome pizza! Thin crust pizzas with a slight crunch. Fresh ingredients. Nice family atmosphere with a gas fireplace in the middle. I would definitely come back!”
“OK. Nothing spectacular. My family all said that the hashbrowns were delicious. Service was slow, considering there were only two other tables occupied at the time and several wait staff. The menu says to ask for pickles if you'd like some. I asked for pickles and was given two very small slices. I was not impressed.”
“Came in on a Tuesday mid afternoon and the place was empty. Man that took our order was nice, the process was simple and quick. We found a table and then started to go make our salads at the salad bar. Things weren't as fresh as they should have been but we made the best of it. Pizza came out quickly and piping hot. Not a bad little spot to grab a bite to eat.”
“best restraint that has ever been in Newberg, possibly Oregon, maybe even the United States. it's incredible and I've eaten there many times. The staff is attentive but not annoyingly so. The owner comes out and talks to every patron. The quality of food is incredible.”
