Dinner was delicious service a little slow but they were packed. Enjoyed our time and food. Great sunset!

Overpriced and undelivered. We ate here the 1st night as we were tired and it was convenient. Won’t make that mistake again. We were seated by a bus boy who was too busy to shower or comb his hair that day. The server Matt was about the only good thing in the place. He was super friendly. We had our 2 yr old with us and she wanted milk, which is on the menu. The chef sent the server out to tell us that they don’t serve it or even have it onsite. Well sir maybe take it off the menu or buy some. They have limited gluten free option and it’s a $24 steak dinner or a $16 salad with half a chicken breast and brown lettuce. We saw the so called chef outside smoking in the front of the building as we were going back to our room making the entire lobby stink. We didn’t even try the breakfast cafe at the Shilo since the dinner restaurant was so bad. I definitely do not recommend this place. It’s worth walking a few blocks to the Tap House or another restaurant for dinner.

We went on a Saturday in January. We had three servers for our group of 6 because two were trainees. They were very friendly and attentive as we were the only party in the restaurant during most of our dinner.

Well we love this place but we have never eaten here. Just visited the bar area. Whole place is slow, restaurant and bar but maybe it's the time of day we go. Linda the bartender is super nice and always accommodating. It's in a nice location and I know the views are breathtaking in the daytime.

The place has a beautiful view with lots of seats by the window. It's open from 7-11 and we got there a little after 10 and there were still seats available with ocean view. There was only one waitress that we could see so it took a while for us to get seated and waited on. Another guy showed up after a while and eased her burden -- she was friendly and helpful when she could get to us. The special was 2 eggs, bacon/sausage/ham, hash browns, and biscuits and gravy for $12, with 20% discount which was definitely worth it. The food was good -- though my mother in law always complains that the gravy is never warm enough -- and it wasn't, though we asked that it be very hot. We enjoyed the meal, the view, and the occasion.

The fish and chipsnwer soggy and the batter was undercooked. More batter than fish, the mac and cheese wasn't made out of real cheese, the bacon. Burger the bacon was so hard it was dusty texture. But the fries were good.

The view is great as was the service but, for the money, I was less than impressed with the food. Not that it's bad it's just I've had better for less in Newport.

This is going to be a mixed review, and was difficult to give an exact rating to. First let me say that the absolute highlight of the dinner was our waiter, Calvin. The restaurant was obviously understaffed; but there he was literally running at times to get to all of the tables. He was incredible, and i can only hope he doesnt have to run like that every night. Note to management: this employee is a keeper! After seeing the dated decor, the lack of enough waitstaff, and the loud intoxicated trio at the bar, i was getting a little concerned about what to order. Both my wife and i were pleasantly surprised with quality of the food. She had the chicken caesar salad (after they were out of her first choice of Halibut), and i had the fish n chips. Both were good. The bartender also did a good job, even though she was tasked with also clearing tables in the restaurant. This restaurant still has some great potential. With a few updates and the addition of more waitstaff, this could once again be the award winning place i had read about.

Worst experience ever. Showed up at 8pm. Everything was out. Cake was so dry and disgusting.

We had the Shilo burger with bacon and cheese, it was excellent and the fries were good too. The mix of the diet coke was terrible. Staff tried to fix it but never could. We ate at sunset, the view of the ocean was spectacular. The prices for what you get are high. You are paying for the view. Our meal came to $36 before tip. Overall, the food was excellent as was the view, the only negative was the price. The diet coke issue was not really their fault. Hope this helps.

I would have to advise steering clear of this place. This place is nuts. Not only is the food sub par, you often get the wrong thing ( for instance penne noodles instead of fettucini, ) the beer is warm, wait staff is not friendly at all, and the salad. OH the salad. you will get four artistically placed lettuce leaves on a plate with maybe 6 croutons and 12 slivers of cheese, and they call that a house ceasar, it will set you back over 10 bucks. I honestly wanted to go to the local grocery and buy them some lettuce, as I figured they were having a real hard time getting it. Im not alone. The front desk staff when I told them about my million dollar salad said they had mentioned it too, that the cook staff was told to scale way back on salad. Funny thing is if you order chowder, which is expensive for them to make, they will bring you a heaping load of it.

My parents and I stopped by The Shilo Restaurant mainly for the beautiful view. We were pleased with the food and had an amazing meal of clam chowder, the salmon burger, which was actually a salmon filet on a bun, with key lime cheesecake for dessert. Sayde, our waitress, was attentive and went back to the bar multiple times to see if the bar was stocked with specific liquor brands. Becky H.
