Delicious sushi. My husband and I were the only customers for the majority of the time. Once we had our food, I was shocked that this was the case. Everything was fresh and very tasty. I can't wait to be back.
Went Tengu Sushi in Newport a small Japanese restaurant rihhg on the 101 hwy.Ordered the Jalapeno Tempura, a Godzilla roll (pictured below), and some eel and octopus sushi.The food was really great the atmosphere was quiet, the restaurant was empty except for us, the service was slow (though they have signage explaining that), and our server did not seem knowledgeable or even able to understand some of the menu item questions we had.All in all, if and whenever I return to Newport,...

I thought the rice here was slightly more vinegar forward than most other places, and the salmon roll had a chew to it as it wasn't minced.
There's a sense of humidity and fry smell in the air.
There's some sort of genuine pride at this restaurant I think, about the food quality.
