Zack's was wonderful, both in terms of ambience and in terms of flavor. This restaurant is a one-man show, and Zack brings it off brilliantly.

Eating with Zach is quite the experience. He is the host, the waiter, the bartender, the dishwasher, and the chef. And I do believe that Zach cooks as much for himself as he does for my enjoyment....... And what could be better? Zach is creative, obviously brilliant, cares for his craft, and seems to genuinely enjoy sharing his good clean food with others. Almost everything is organic, farm to table, local, and made in Zach's kitchen. I must be honest, we were hesitant to visit based on some reviews about Zach himself. We are sooooo glad we came. For those that, like us, are hesitant because of those reviews...... Come with confidence. Just be aware, Zach is a bit quirky in the best possible way, and I suspect he will not compromise his food. If you want a chef to share his creative genius, come eat his food. If on the other hand you want a polished staff and children's menus, there might be more suited choices for you. For us, we only wish we would have found Zach when our kids were young so Zach could have helped to shape their taste buds. And one side note, the wines he paired with the chef's tasting were brilliant for a couple of wine snobs.

We had the best food that we had on our trip. Zach's is a one man show and he focuses on the food. It could use some shine but the food is excellent.

Tried to go for lunch at 12:30. Got there early at 12 and waited for 30 minutes. Still, the doors were locked and nobody insight and I gave them the benefit of doubt and waited an extra 10-15 minutes. Even after waiting, nobody was in sight and doors locked. We were super excited to go eat gluten free food since my wife has celiac disease and can’t freely eat out anywhere. Very disappointed and will not try to go again.

We got there at 11:45 and waited for them to open at 12:30 and there was nobody in sight. I have celiac disease and was excited to eat here. We waited until 12:45 and we tried calling but nobody answered.
Very thoughtful delicious healthy food. I felt like I had my own personal chef. I will be back!

This is the best breakfast I’ve ever had. Quality ingredients from locally sourced farms. Simple yet delicious. Highly recommend.

I honestly do not understand how the reviews on this restaurant are so high. Did we just go on an off night? Was there an evening rush to explain why there was almost no one else there and yet he was running out of food?
To bring to the top some comments have gotten buried further down, now that I have had a chance to scrutinize the reviews fully:
- there is only Zach. He answers the phone and makes the reservations and cooks the food and serves the food. We were the only people there so it wasn’t an issue but when I called to make a reservation, my options were very specific. After going there, I realise he was scheduling 1 table per hour. He chased away a walk in table. So clearly he knows that he cannot handle a full dining room.
- the food was ok. It was not bad. It was not amazing. It was just ok. The prices are too high for the quality.
- there is no atmosphere and the decor is very basic. Since we were the only table there and Zach was separated from us by just a curtain between the dining room and kitchen, we felt like we had to talk in hushed voices. It was all very awkward.
The good? Unlike other complaints, Zach was not at all rude to us and was very pleasant.

A delightful experience, feels very intimate! The Chefs Tasting is a stellar choice to try a variety of flavorful dishes. Zach is not only an excellent chef, but a wonderful host as well. Well worth the price, and I look forward to our next visit!

Dietary restrictions: When making the reservation online, there was space for listing dietary restrictions. I am allergic to wheat, garlic, and mushrooms, which makes it nearly impossible for me to eat in restaurants,
usually. Because of my restrictions, the owner/chef made the menu so that every single dish was available for me to order on the evening we were there. I've never had such a wonderful experience! I felt spoiled. The whole meal was beautiful- inventive yet approachable. Even my husband, who is not allergic to those things, loved his meal, and did not miss the exclusions. Thank you, again, for a memorable meal!

Good food, reasonable prices. Bit of a wait between courses, but worth it. Recommend it...

We walked in to eat at a local establishment. We were greeted in a rude manner. After asking if he had room for 6 people we were told that it would be over 10 minutes so he could rework the menu and possible 45 minutes before we would be served. The "cook" "owner" then proceeded to tell us we should have called for reservations but the sign said reservations available. We decided to leave and go elsewhere. As we left We heard him rudely say. "Good luck finding a place with seating for 6 without a reservation. "
We did! We went down the block and walked right into the Pacific Kitchen @ Nye Beach and had an excellent meal and super service.
I am sure this food is excellent but he needs to handle stress and have customer service better.

I’d give zero stars if I could. I made reservations online for a table of 4, myself, my husband, and our two children. The chef had come around the corner and his first words were, “we don’t have a kids menu.” No hello or greeting whatsoever. The no kids menu would’ve been fine as we fed the kids before we came but before we could respond he says he can’t do the perfume or cologne one of us was wearing. Thing is I saw on the website about the sensitivity to smells so we purposely didn’t wear any! He was so rude I was half way out the door at that point. Sucks this celiac wasn’t able to try the best rated gf place in Newport on my birthday!
