CLOSED!!!!! Although their phone message says they are open, they are not. We made the drive to check them out & were disappointed to see the doors closed. Very disappointed to make a trip unnecessarily.
It opened up yesterday (2/10/23) after 2 years of renovation and restoration. Today, we were looking for a place to have a pastry and a cup of coffee. We found the perfect spot at Skog's Restaurant! After enjoying cinnamon rolls and coffee, Vince gave us a tour of the bakery and Turkey Hall. Lunch and dinner are served at the Turkey Hall, next door. We looked at the lunch and dinner menus, and can't wait to return for home-cooked meals from the buffet (all you can eat!) at the Turkey Hall. Antiques are displayed for sale throughout the buildings. Plan to stay for a while...there is so much to take in. If Vince is available, he will tell you about the renovations and the antiques. Thanks to Vince and Katrina for treating us like old friends. We shall return!!!
We all know the place as something else so of course the building is beautiful. This place has a smaller menu with in my opinion good choices and a family run crew for hosting and seating. Not sure who runs the kitchen but whoever it is is a great chef. We went for a spur of the moment date outing and ended up at skoggs and it was a charming atmosphere with fresh flowers and lit candles. Very friendly young man sat us and was happy at our request to seat us in the bar area. We ordered a couple burgers (1 being vegetarian) and they were amazing! Fresh ingredients, cooked amazing, more gourmet than chain burgers and tasted absolutely amazing! The price wasn't unreasonable and the food you get is vary tasty. I really liked the woman owner and the young son that sat us but the husband and I assumed other son kind of gave us a different feel. It wasn't rude or anything just not as inviting and welcoming as them. It was just our impression and we have only been once and plan on going again so hopefully I will be wrong and will be writing a revision to this review! Don't let my first experience detour you from going because you will be mad you didn't eat the food there! It was a wonderful place to have our spur of the moment date outing!
Great restraunt, under new ownership as of, i believe, 2020. The inside is huge and well decorated. Must try the lemon drop! We started with the calamari which was amazing, and their tarter sauce is some of the best I've ever had. (We eat ALOT of seafood.) They also brought out these fried dough squares covered with powdered sugar and it was on the house! Very nice gal and her son running the place that day. Personable, friendly and helpful about the menu and made the best lemon drop drink. We went after 4pm, sorry no burgers after 4pm, but my husband got the braised short ribs with palente which I tried and was very very good (it doesnt look like alot of food but its very filling for even a grown man!) And I got the pasta dish linguini with tiger prawns and garlic bread, also very good. Must try this restraunt if your in Oakland. Highly reccomend.
Friendly hometown feel in beautiful old town historic Oakland Oregon ?
Outstanding cuisine in an off the road oasis. Go there it's worth the trip.
WOW!! Absolutely delicious food. We had the Prime Rib, brussel sprouts and mashed potatoes. Everything was absolutely perfect. And the cheesecake, we had the Neapolitan, words cannot describe how absolutely, perfectly delicious it was. And the service, top notch!! The owner came to the table to check on us. It was our first time and we will definitely be coming back again.
Sweet place, lovely food & service. The owners are friendly and they have a vision, and what they have to offer is sorely needed in little Oakland! May we help them do their part to revive this sweet historic town.
We stopped in for a quick bite to eat and ordered biscuits and gravy. OMG it was so good we couldn't stop eating them. The owner was kind enough to give us dessert. It was just as good. Great place, lots of history and killer food.
I usually do not make bad reviews but after thinking about our experience I felt I need to say something. The place has a number of good reviews, not sure why The waiter was very inexperienced not sure what to do. We ordered a Skog's combo pizza. The shuffling cook brought it out to us with 2 plates, no napkins and no parmesan cheese. We asked her for some and after several minutes brought it out to us. Meanwhile the waiter did bring us utensils wrapped in a napkin. The pizza was a cheap frozen pizza that they added a sliced mushroom, four chunks of yellow pepper and a sprinkling of sausage to. I would be ashamed to offer a quest in my home a pizza like that.

Korean Street Tacos are so amazing, the cheese cake was some of the best I’ve ever had, definitely going to eat here again, living in Oregon or just driving through, would definitely recommend Skog’s.
Loved the food and the service was fantastic , Manny's chicken sandwich was amazing and made perfect me and my family loved it may be our new favorite
We had my moms 80th bday party here. A hidden gem. Owners are great and took great care of us. Great food, cool place, like how they "improved" the old Tolly's. Owner has a big vision for this place including the Turkey Hall out back . We cant wait to come back and mingle some more
