This place is charming and is evolving into the best kept secret in little downtown Oregon City. Food is fantastic and you'll often find the family grandfather (El Padrino) in the kitchen. Theyre serving fountain drinks in glass jars. love it! Service is usually one of the nieces or nephews. Food is outstanding, and the menu is simple but delicious. Two kinds of tamales, carne asada burrito is delicious. Give it a try. Very very affordable.

The wait was kinda ridiculous for a really simple order, no one seemed in a hurry even with 4-5 people waiting for food. Food was pretty decent, server was nice. Price was okay

E for effort. I had a pair of fish tacos here, and was originally disappointed with the lack of salsa offerings or grilled chiles. I suppose that growing up in LA has spoiled me. The tacos themselves were good; not on a par with El Taco Nazo in LA, but certainly more authentic than Qdoba or some places. I just wish that they had topped them off with something a little more fun than sour cream. Maybe mix that with a squeeze of lemon, a dash of cilantro, and tapatio? The fish was fried right, the tortillas could have been better, but it was good. The word that comes to mind with this place is "serviceable".

I was actually done with Yelp about 2 - 3 weeks ago but this place reminded me why I became a Yelper. So I'm stayin'. Took a "LONG TIME" for them to serve us but they make everything from scratch. Even chips weren't pre-fried. I was getting itchin' for sure while waiting but once the food arrived, I realized "it was worth the wait" (look at the photos). :)

If you are looking for a "hole in the wall" mexican place that has good food, look no further.

We had noticed this place a few times and wanted to try it. The wife and I both had the al pastor burrito. The burrito was huge and very tasty. The chips were extra and I felt that they were ok but nothing special. The setting was clean but not as comfortable and more crowded than I would have hoped. The service was ok, prices probably a little better of a deal than some of the competition.

After a very long day of driving and deprivation, soon to have to stop to get gas, we Googled up some Yelp reviews for restaurants in upcoming towns, and found El Compadre. Far better than we were even led to expect! Our seven year old had a great time with the friendly hostess and wait staff and we were seated quickly and served drinks and chips. My wife ordered veggie fajitas, the kid got a bean burrito (no sauce, no cheese) and I had arroz con pollo, extra spicy, please. My wife also ordered a standard for her, a margarita, which she thought was guite good, and packing just enough punch. Fabulous all around! This was the kind of stop where we wished we could have moved the restaurant to our home town so we could enjoy it more often. So, whether a lucky local, or just driving through, I can whole heartedly recommend El Compadre. Thank you!

My boyfriend and I made a plan to go here after some good things being said about this place and we happen to be in the area for an event. I ordered Taquitos with rice and beans and he got a burrito. As he was eating his burrito his head was nodding and when he got a chase to comment, he said "this is really good". I said " better than Los Gorditos"? HE confirmed with a strong Yes! I too was very happy with my food and for once ordering rice I actually got authentic moist Mexican rice. Happy mouths and tummy's we carried on with our evening. This place is great for take out since the seating is mostly suited for quick in and out, small area. Tv for watching news and such. I am ready to go back again. Well I will be in Oregon City next week
