AFURI ramen + dumpling downtown Portland

Very different from what I'm use to, the food is over priced please don't even ask for mild spice, way too spicy. I like the atmosphere and the service, but I come for the Ramen and maybe it's just the one I ordered but the 1st always counts.

My good friend (a full-time employed, extremely-overworked toddler mom) is HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED with the removal of Yuzu Ratan Raman from your menu at the downtown location ?

The Yuzu ramen and gyoza were the worst ramen and gyoza I’ve ever had in my life. Terrifying. The waiter was nice tho.

I used to love AFURI SE for its unique flavors. Decided to try "kara kurenai", but they've completely abandoned their roots in favor of a corporate cash grab.

The menu has "extra noodles thick/thin”, ramen lovers might assume this is "kae dama" but good luck trying to get it after your order is placed. Apparently it's only available when you first order. Requested it twice and denied twice at the register midway through my bowl. I had no problem waiting nor paying for the extra noodles. Absolute insanity.

The atmosphere feels less like a cozy ramen shop and more like a fast-casual chain. The flavors are okay, but it’s disappointing to see a place that once celebrated its Japanese heritage now just chasing profits. If you're looking for a good ramen experience, I’d recommend somewhere else.

I have eaten the Level 8 Yuzu Kara Kurenai 8 times in the last 3 weeks and I don't see myself slowing down anytime soon. This is the best bowl of ramen I've ever had and I will cry if it ever leaves the menu.

Cool vibe & pricey food. Vegans - the hazelnut broth ramen is the only option & has no protein by default (not even tofu). Better option is at Matsunoki ramen one block away.

I ordered takeaway and waited 40 minutes. People came and ordered food in front of me and their order was brought to them faster than mine. This is a bad restaurant in terms of service.

Amazing food, I have gone to all there restaurants and this one is by far my favorite, definitely recommend to someone stopping by.

I ordered the Yuzu Ramen and enjoyed it immensely alongside my something Colada (it was purple), which was very refreshing in the summer heat. The ramen tasted high-quality and had a well-balanced palette. All the ingredients were of good quality and taste. The overall flavor was very citrusy (I know... Yuzu... but it was STRONG), which I did not expect, but it was done well.

I would say the portion was good for lunch, just enough to get you going again. Price seemed reasonable for Portland and in consideration of current PNW prices, overall, so I cannot really dock any points due to it.

I enjoyed the inside atmosphere.

4 stars for service because it's counter service. The person who took my order was friendly, though, and my order came out briskly.
