The ramen shop overall had a very nice and warm atmosphere upon walking in. However when my wife and I ordered the tonkatsu ramen, it lacked the depth of flavor that we were normally used to with ramen at other locations, almost like they used water instead of broth for the ramen. I don’t think we’ll be heading this way again if we head up to Portland again.

Not sure if this is an Oregon thing but as a Houstonian we don’t tend to rely on adding sriracha and soy sauce to our ramen. They tend to be full and bold of flavor with just the broth itself. Unfortunately, we had to add some of it to ours to make it a little palatable. The staff was great, it was more of the ramen itself, I got the “spicy” Akarasu ramen and it was not spicy at all, and the egg was well done when they are not meant to be. A few other things we got were the Abu-Ramen and the Gyoza and they were okay as well. Honestly, for the ratings and reviews we saw we were expecting a little more, but once again I am used to the Houston, LA, Seattle and NY flavors so maybe it’s just me.

I needed a quick lunch so placed an order for pick up. I don’t eat pork typically so I asked what chicken options they had. None were available as the hostess said they had updated their menu. Between the veggie and seafood option as all other alternatives had pork I chose the shrimp. I asked for extra shrimp as the wontons that came inside the dish contained pork. This was not good ramen… all the shrimp protein were heads, the two tails I got were uncleaned down the spine, the noodles were clumped together and not traditional noodles. The broth was extremely fishy and no hints of coconut as explained… I could not even finish the dish… The dish was supposed to come with tofu as well and I got two medium sized cubes… The cucumber salad was alright I ate that to completion. It had medium flavor not as much spice, vinegar or chili as desired… not a very good meal. The saving grace was the hostess she was very nice and the atmosphere of the restaurant seemed alright. I did not dine in but it looked like it could be an okay experience. I don’t think I will be returning as they have a limited menu for my food preferences. Perhaps a pork broth soup will be more successful than my experience.

The waitress/cashier was completely disengaged—lethargic, unhelpful, and unwelcoming. Rather than greeting customers or offering guidance, she remained behind the counter, yawning and reading a book. No help with the menu. No offer for water. Didn’t check on us again after we got our food.
Instead of authentic Japanese ambiance, we were met with loud, grating punk music that clashed entirely with what a ramen house should feel like. There were no Japanese touches or atmosphere—just noise and disconnect.
The ramen broth was thin and had a scorched taste, likely from the pork that was extremely burnt. For a dish that’s all about rich, layered flavors and care in preparation, this missed the mark entirely.
Maybe there was once a higher standard here, but based on my visit, neither the service nor the food justified the praise.

I think that this place has the best ramen in Portland & it’s soooo fast and easy to order & get your food.
The pricing is decent & the amount you get is good too. It’s just great flavors over simple ramen & amazing pork belly.
I switch around my ramens that I get, and honestly they’re all good. It’s based off your spice tolerance at that point.

Ramen was a okay. cold hard boiled egg, hard to chew chashu and the thin style #26 or #28 noodles. She warned me it would be spicy, it was not lol but nothing on Alberta is except Yangs lol
Too much competition with better prices and portions near by. Will try again after summer.

I have been eating here for at least 8 years, or however long they've been open. It has been a slow, steady decline in the food for years now. Instead of charging more, like every other restaurant, they have chosen the model of changing the recipes and sacrificing quality. The meat used to be tender, now it's blow torched and rubbery. The bowls have gotten smaller. The broth has lost flavor. They took out the dumplings. And it used to have more broth. That's most of it. The last time I went, I ordered the vegetarian because I'm so over the meat soup, but the veggie was hands down, the worst bowl of soup I have ever tasted. I hope you guys read this and make some changes, but I'm done.

Good noodle quality. Firm. Veggies are tender and good quality. The egg is good, yolk was perfectly jellied , but my egg was still chilly and wasn't warmed up enough.
Soup base is bland. My chasu was chewy and was quickly torch seared. I prefer marinatied and soft melt in your mouth chasu, didnt get that.
Service was nice and fast. Its a good place to grab quick decent ramen. Not my first stop.

Finding parking wasn't so easy I end up parking in a neighborhood right infront of a house. I don't know if they have a public restroom or not I didn't see any nor did I ask. I ordered the Akasaru ramen noodle to go and sadly, there was literally nothing else in the paper bag other than the food I ordered. There was no napkin, fork/spoon, no sause. The dining room was small it probably fit about 15 peoples. The food was okay/editable, it wasn't the best or worst. The employees there are neutral no smile on their faces, but there was a greet. Right outside there are graffiti everywhere but I don't blame the shop. Yes it's wheelchair accessible!
