CHAMPAGNE CHAMPION The new owner Michael is a grand host and has truly doctored up this already fantastic establishment. You won't find any insults to the bubbly world in this classy joint in an ugly building. The menu always has interesting bubbles by the glass and you can't find a better bubbly bottle selection anywhere else in Portland. A tiny place that fills up quickly with Champagne lovers. We had dinner reservations for 8:30 elsewhere so we decided to stop by and sip on Champagne beforehand. It just happened to be a “soft re-opening” under the new owner, who is very knowledgable about the wines that he selects and pours. He is also a gracious host. Fun atmosphere. I wish that my home city had such a place to hang out like Ambonnay.
