Modern Thai invokes the feeling of being a kid and going to your friends house after playing outside all day and his mom is cooking up her families pad see ew recipe that she’s had for generations. Decor was cool too.
This might be my new favorite thai place in Portland. I love the mom and pop feel here. While they might not have the hip allure of somewhere like Thai Peacock downtown, the food speaks for itself. I haven't had Pad See Ew this good anywhere else. Portions were large and very reasonably priced. I would be willing to try anything on the menu after this first experience.
Parking: Division is a tough road to find parking along, be prepared to do some circling.

I like this place out of the nearby Thai options. The Pad Thai is tasty, the food is affordable, and the people have always been warm and welcoming. :

Absolutely fantastic food. Super cute and cozy little place and the people who run it are unbelievably nice.
Also, they have yakisoba on the menu, which I love but in America can very often be ... overly wet; more like lo mein. But Modern Thai nailed the consistency. So delicious, and everything on the menu is reasonably priced with generous portions.
I live nearby and since I have discovered this place it's hard not to order from them every night. Now I want more yakisoba.

We stumbled upon this little restaurant after an evening of thrifting on Division. We were so delighted by the paintings and various tchotchkes around the restaurant, it felt cozy and warm. We ordered the tom kha soup and pad se ew dishes, and noticed immediately that this isn’t your cookie cutter Thai food restaurant. Everything tasted handmade, similar to visiting a family home with fresh made food. Absolutely no frills, no fuss — this is an excellent location to bring a date or bring friends to have an excellent dinner together.

We found this place while walking around looking for somewhere to eat. It has a cozy atmosphere, delicious food, and friendly staff. We had red curry, panang curry, and crab Rangoon and there were zero complaints, it was delicious. Highly recommend the crab rangoons.

We ended up here because everyone in Portland was out to eat on a Monday night, presumably because it was 100 degrees outside. Our first and second choice restaurants were full. I'm so glad we did! The drunken noodles were some of the best I've had. Definitely will be back to try the curries. I'm white person who loves spice, spice level 4 had some good, mild heat to it. I'll probably go 5 next time. Service was fast, she kept everyone's water pitchers filled.
