Been going to this place for years, but it's been slipping lately. This morning, went in and ordered 4 croissants. Wasn't even busy at the time. Walked out with one of their small bags that was pretty full. Got home and discovered they only gave me 3 croissants (but charged me for 4). Called them up and they offered to refund one of them. Told them I'd prefer the 4th croissant. So, they said they'd set one aside for me. I go back in there to pick it up (which was obviously inconvenient and annoying to begin with) and they acted like I was interrupting them (even though it was their mistake in the first place). In trying to help them out in the future, I pointed out that 3 croissants barely fit in the bag they gave me and, if someone orders 4 croissants, they should put them in a box. The woman at the counter came across like I was being a nuisance. Didn't even apologize for messing up my order and having to come back in. When your pastries are that expensive, you should have better customer service.

Sept 2025 Update: stopped by a few weeks ago and was astonished at the very high prices. I’ve been priced out at this shop so won’t be returning.

The only reason I was lucky enough to find this place which is a tiny spot on Sandy was because my regular baker is closed for a remodel. Let me tell ya, this place has such delicious chocolate banana muffins they melt in your mouth! Also, the goat cheese and veg quiche is creamy and flavorful. Yummy croissants too. The gal at the counter was so sweet to me two days in a row when I was eager to try new things! My new fave bakery for sure.

I’m so mad that I didn’t try this bakery sooner than last year. All of the flaky pastries are perfectly crispy and buttery, including the strawberry + fig Parisian for which one of the employees brought the figs straight from her yard (I mean come on!!🥹). Needless to say it was sublime. There is such a wide selection of both sweet and savory pastries, I wish I had 3 stomachs to try them all.

As a savory pastry fan, I’m delighted by this shop. They have extremely tasty pastries. I also love their pain au chocolat. My favorite by far is their quiche. It’s the best I’ve ever had and I have tried everywhere and all over the US.

Smells incredible, friendly staff, cute but functional space. It's the type of place you swing by and pick up, not a place to linger. The pastries, especially the savory ones, and insanely good. Definitely worth a stop for the cheese straws alone.

All the workers here were very friendly and helpful but the food was meh. The wonder bun must’ve been days old because it was extremely hard and chewy even though I came in only an hour after opening. The quiche was decent but once again the crust was so hard I couldn’t even finish it. I’ve been to a lot of bakeries in Portland and this just didn’t satisfy, I expected better quality for the price.. probably won’t be back here again :(

I got a rectangular maple croissant and it was the best. So light and crunchy. Also tried the savory croissant tart which was delicious. The only negative would be parking was hard to find in the area.

Dear Reader,

when I tell you I am but a humble city dweller
and possess no acclaimed Oregonian ruggedness
nor specific alpine technical experience
you will have to believe my somber truth when I say,

I would climb any mountaintop
in the Pacific Northwest
if at 9:30 on a Sunday morning
upon hearing the Bakeshop
was out of ham and cheese croissants
there lay the promise
of a Bakeshop ham and cheese
at its peak.

Mind-blowingly good.

Most of the pastries at Bakeshop are the kind you'd see in any decent coffee shop. Except the expertise of the bakers and quality of the bake is quite simply levels above. I'd expect treats like this at a many-starred restaurant.

Go on the early side if you want your first choice, but honestly, the line moves fast and anything you get will delight you.

The basque cheesecake can't be missed. Get on their mailing list and order in advance. It's worth it.

We waited a long time to visit this little bakeshop. Sounds odd most likely... having check marks on our Google maps of places we want to visit. But this was the day we drove across the state to try.... the almond croissant was absolutely delicious.. albeit messy. Totally worth the evidence all over my jacket.
