Bar Loon is nothing short of fantastic! The service, the food, the cocktails, and the space are truly lovely. It has easily become one of my favorite spots in Portland and a great place to bring folks to shake things up a bit. I can't wait to see what they have in store as they settle into such a beloved space.

Bar Loon is a great neighborhood spot for a drink and bite to eat. The bartenders are fantastic, make great drinks, and are very friendly. They also have gluten free options and the frier is gluten free!

Dietary restrictions: Gluten free options. Just ask!

My friends and I have celebrated our birthdays at Bar Loon over the last several months. Each time the food was consistently delicious and the drinks (both NA and cocktails) were to die for. This is one of our big-little local bars which has the most elegant neighborhood feel. Come here to treat yourself with a fantastic dinner or just enjoy a lovely drink after work!

Fantastic spot with lovely selection of wine, champagne, beer and cocktails (plus some NA options) and plenty of great food options (including vegan stuff). Lovely addition to the neighborhood and I love that they allow dogs (in the back).

Loved their burrata and egg salad toast.

Vegetarian options: Plenty of vegan and vegetarian food.

I loved the Sweet Hereafter for many years. And I also love that I can now eat a burger in this space. Drinks and food are real nice

Great ambience, the fire pit was lit in time for fall. The food was stellar, had a few smalls: the coppa with whipped ricotta, peaches and melon and a grilled sausage on beans and zucchini. Everything was so fresh. Excellent Negroni!

Changing my 5 start review to 1 star.

How to restaurant in Portland:

1. Double the prices
2. Half the portions
3. Get rid of any personality
4. Get rid of vegan options

So sad what these bars are doing. I won’t be back.

What a gem of a spot to catch up with friends without the pressures of a structured dining experience, but you can still have a proper dinner. There’s tables of all sizes, indoor and outdoor seating is a total vibe, and the food itself is incredible - veggie forward but great meat options as well (I didn’t catch if there was non-meat protein). I went to a much fancier restaurant in town earlier in the week and this just left me feeling so much more satisfied.

Really disappointing experience. Was excited to check this place out as I had a good time at their sister restaurant Bellweather Bar, but something feels lost here. I get that it’s self-service so you order food/drinks at the bar, but with a larger group like what we had the concept feels lazy, it was really cumbersome to keep getting out of the booth to go up for the littlest things, I made 3 trips to get water while the staff chatted behind the bar and if you’re going to put a $52 steak on the menu there should at least be a quality check from the staff but all they did was nonchalantly clear plates. The food was a huge disappointment, the Grilled Broccoli was actually rotten, I was aghast that they could serve what was clearly yellow, wilted expired broccoli for $13. Thankfully we opted for the smaller portion of the steak because that was not good either, it had a grey color and tasted like it was sous-vide or something without the proper sear. The cocktails thankfully was better than the food. Very disappointing experience.

My experience was pretty average service and atmosphere for a trendy Portland bar (ordering in a designated line at the bar and getting a number for the table; dim lighting & music that is just a little too loud to be able to talk to someone who isn’t sitting right next to or across from you).

The food and drinks were very good, but nothing that I would say can’t be had at other similar Portland spots. But that’s a credit to Portland’s food scene, not a criticism of BL’s.

Dietary restrictions: My only real issue was that I think the menu items should specifically name or indicate in the description a major allergen, especially if you, for example, use nuts in a dish that does not appear from the menu to contain them.

The service was on point! Honestly I like the set they have, and the food came out quickly. I'm not vegetarian, but I only ordered vegetarian dishes because they all looked so good! I'll be going back to try some of the meatier dishes soon, but I'm glad they have vegan, veggie, and meaty options on the menu. IMO a huge step up from Sweet Hereafter (sorry fans of the old place).

GO.TO.THIS.PLACE! esp. for weekend brunch.
2nd time here: hate to say it but the peach pavlova better than the blueberry pavlova.
Watermelon & peach salad to die for.
Tuna niçoise (say it correctly) was Wonderful.
Chkn Romesco also Incredible!
Ask Lauren to make you The Best Mojito in Portland!!!

The coppa's very good with large portions of ricotta and coppa along with thick toast style bread and peppers that add a bite to it. The atmosphere inside is nice.
