Tom yum soup & mango sticky rice so yummy!
We were looking for this place, but it is shared with another restaurant name Sweet Basil, which serves meat. I think there might be three restaurant names. There is a separate menu for each restaurant name. Passing by the kitchen, we thought that space looked clean. "You can order from either menu. Any item on the meat version can be made vegan." We just ordered from the BVK menu. It was a hot day and we were under the shade of a grape vine pergola where it was cool. Cloth napkins and tablecloth. Food was very good with lots of vegetables. The white rice came in the form of a large star with a layer of delicious black rice on top.
Always super fresh veggies and great service.

We ordered to-go food. It was delicious. Unfortunately, I forgot to take pictures. The avocado noodle curry was delicious!

Basil Vegan Kitchen is consistently available for evening/late-night delivery, offers an extensive menu of vegan options, & is priced in the range of what I'd consider affordable Thai food in the current landscape. While their soups & curries are mostly outstanding, the lack of consistency across the full menu prevents me from rating them higher. However, I look forward to sticking to my main items (Red Curry, Pumpkin Curry, Tom Yum, etc.) whenever I feel like ordering.
Idk what happened to the food here but it’s gone down hill :/
OMG this place is so cute and the food is amazing and the service was

I want so badly to leave a good review but I just cannot. I had tempura and yellow curry that I picked up to take home. The tempura batter is thick and tasteless.. I've never quite had tempura batter like this. And that's too bad because I ordered a lot of it. The veggies inside the batter are fine. The yellow curry order gives you a choice of very mild, all the way up from there. I chose the least amount of spicey- so the most mild. I'm used to spicy foods, but I just felt like having the least amount tonight - it is definitely really spicy.. Furthermore, the potatoes in the yellow curry are really just barely to the point of being cooked enough. I thought for sure when I cut into it that it was going to be raw because it was that hard. The tofu in the curry is fine. The rice that came with the curry is good.Service was friendly, the food was done on time. The restaurant looked very nice. I don't have a problem with any of that.. But because of the poor quality of food I won't be back. Sorry!

I get that people are disappointed that this isn't an all vegan restaurant. If you're okay with that I think this place is definitely worth a try. Their prices are a bit more reasonable than some other Thai restaurants around town and their Thai food is prepared pretty close to the food I ate in Thailand. I'm not Thai, but I lived there for 2 years and ate a lot all around the country. Of course, there's not one way to make any one dish, but this place just has some of the Thai details that others miss while still offering a vegan version. There's so much competition for Thai food in Portland, I feel like I can be picky. For example, I want sticky rice served with my papaya salad, I want the papaya salad to be a bit fishy, I want to be able to order laarb and it to have the right herb, salt, and acid balance, I want to have more than one choice of curry, I don't want unseasoned steamed broccoli in any dish ever, etc.
Excellent vegan food! Loved the flavors, and asked for it to be not spicy and they delivered! Would definitely recommend

This restaurant is basically for restaurants put into one. The menu is quite extensive. There are many choices. The environment was a bit cold though, but the service was good. My lad na was pretty good but some of the rice noodles that were fried did not have enough wok flavor.
Vegetarian options: Basically the entire menu can be made vegetarian. And they have a separate menu for vegan.
