I'm really disappointed in the food today.

I ordered the breakfast sandwich, the bread was cold, it was not toasted, the consistency of the egg was wrong and overcooked, and the overall flavor -- bland and left me unsatisfied. Bacon also had an odd taste and was not crispy like you'd expect. 1 out of 5. It was just some fancy salad greens. Left me very disappointed.

My son ordered the waffle and chicken. He loved the chicken, hated the waffle, texture all wrong, sauce ...just weird. Very odd combination of flavors. All wrong.

While I can appreciate the presentation here, and the beautiful high quality ingredients and options for dairy free etc... it just missed the mark for us today!

If I'm going to get out and spend this much on a meal, it needs to be perfect!

Also -- offer the option for those of us that eat dairy. Offer raw cream or something that does not curdle in the coffee, and use butter...that's what the french do, and that's what I'd expect from a place like this.

I won't go back.

I don't have gluten restrictions and my dairy allergy barely slows me down so I didn't need to eat here. But I did because of family with those needs. It was so good that I want to eat there again. Great atmosphere, incredible food, great gluten free beer, and it wasn't $100 a plate. Best chicken sandwich in the city! Stop by for their bakery too! Great donuts! There was an issue with a wizard and a thousand year curse but the staff assured me that didn't actually work there. 5 stars.

I got to Bastion around 10 a.m. and there was a small line out the door, plus limited seating, so I ordered to go. Even though they were short-staffed and nearly at capacity, I still had my food in about 30 minutes, which was impressive. I ordered the breakfast sandwich — super good, filling but still felt healthy. I also grabbed a drip coffee with coconut milk and (I think) brown sugar, and it ended up being surprisingly great — the coconut milk gave it this subtle tropical flavor I’ve never had in coffee before. The staff was really friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere felt calm and inviting, with lots of plants and good energy. Definitely a place I’d come back to. If you have dietary restrictions, they’ve got plenty of options and are really accommodating.

This place is amazing! The perfect balance of food that everyone can eat (GF, DF, vegan, soy free, etc) and bacon, eggs, and fried chicken. Top notch pastries, warm friendly atmosphere, and even friendlier staff. Lovely location and tasty coffee if you need to go for a quick walk during a weekend brunch rush.

I took my grandma to Bastion for lunch about five weeks ago, and I’m still talking about the albacore tuna sandwich I had. It was that good. Great food, warm service, and such a comfortable spot for a casual lunch. Go!

I really love this place. Ive been coming here for years. I have had a couple misses, not a fan of their chicken/waffle combo. But their salmon hash, soups, beverages & avo toast are all fantastic.
The service is always very friendly & the vibes are nice. Highly appreciate the whole menu being gluten free and free of refined sugars. Its nice to have a place to come to for a meal that truly makes you feel nourished.
