My granddaughter brought me here. what a cute place. It was my first time having Matcha & I loved it. Also had onigiri & miso soup. It was really good & filling. I had a Matcha Parfait which was delicious. Got some cookies to go. We will definitely be coming back..Thank you for the hospitality.
I really wanted to like this place, but the experience was just uncomfortable. Even though the cafe wasn’t busy, the staff acted like I was a nuisance for walking in. No greeting, no warmth—just cold stares and a general vibe that I wasn’t welcome. When they handed me my drink, there was this weird sense of distance, like they didn’t want to interact with me at all, which just made it even more unpleasant. I didn’t leave a tip because honestly, they didn’t make me feel like I should. It’s a cozy-looking spot, but the atmosphere felt anything but inviting. Definitely won’t be coming back.
Love the onigiri🍙, hojicha latte and hojicha soft serve! Latte art is sooo cute! Generally a great shop for everything!
A great cafe, they serve treats, soft serve, and drinks. All are delicious. So by after voting the museum or just passing by.
I don't really enjoy visiting Portland that much anymore but I love this Cafe! Very authentic Japanese, they even sell authentic kimonos there! But the best part is the owner who is really wonderful!
This is a wonderful place and it is very sad how it (like many other businesses) is impacted by the homeless situation. I’ve come here numerous times with full view of folks in psychosis or tweaking outside and it is disturbing. Once someone on the street stopped to tell me that there was a violent person on the street hitting people in the head with glass bottles. Someone also shot into BTMC’s window a couple of years ago. Obviously part of a larger citywide issue and very sad on a human level. But I don’t want to be confronted with this when I am just trying to relax and enjoy some tea time. I hope this shifts and the city can and public can do more to support small businesses as so much of the downtown hollows out. I hope the BTMC makes it.
The Onigiri and Matcha Latte here are the best I’ve ever had!
It would be even better if the staff were more enthusiastic and professional!
What a sweet little spot 🩷. Loved everything about this cafe. I can’t wait to go back and try the matcha soft serve 🤤🤤🤤
Really nice place with great food and drinks options, the only issue is there's no privacy, you are sitting in the middle of some one else's conversation who happened to be on their first date. I'm sure that some folks might enjoy that
the simplest, humblest, most insanely delicious tea and snacks served by the nicest people in the warmest spot surrounded by the prettiest art. PDX has a rep for being buzzy, pretentious and inauthentic, but this place is a tiny oasis of calm. the matcha makes me tingle to my toes. the salty ochazuke feels like a hug. the music is quiet, the windows are wide, and the antique shelves and dolls give the space a nice grounding energy. basically I come here whenever I travel for work because it's like a brain and belly massage

The customer service is really lacking. Ordered a drink there and not even a “hello” or “how are you” from the cashier or barista; despite me clearly greeting them. It’s also kind of funny that despite poor customer service the cashier had the audacity to pull up the tip option on the iPad when I was paying for my drink. Call me old fashioned but a tip is earned!
Excellent environment, if you want a place to relax. Have a nice cup of coffee, some foreign food, or if you just want to get on your computer, your laptop and do a little something, something and a nice warm environment. This I would say is the place.
First time here and as a huge match lover we selected a matcha soft serve in a cone and a matcha latte , soft serve was mediocre but the matcha latte was decent . Aromatic and tasted great even though it’s powder . Will be back , as it’s Christmas time the cafe was full , but service was also fast. Cute decor and I loved the live plants greenery inside
Nice atmosphere, feels like a cafe you’d experience in Asia. Onigiri was okay, could be more generous with portions. Pour over was okay too, probably should’ve gone for the tea
My favorite place to go for matcha! The food is also amazing and the space is cozy and the perfect place to share a pot of tea.
