The guy with the mustache was super rude at the cash register! Very mid bagel too. You’ll never see me again!

For $14.50 I was expecting a spectacular lox bagel. It’s decent, bagel is great but it needs more onion and capers. I can fit it in my mouth too easily for this price.

Loved the bagel! I got the Lox it’s in the Sandos section. It’s salmon capers, onions and cream cheese you pick which bagel you want it on. I added cucumber and avocado it came out to $18.25. Which tbh is cheaper than other Lox bagels at other Portland bagel shops. It’s usually $20 and up. My friend got the Popper without smear since it was spicy and a plain sesame bagel with cream cheese and she spent $15. I am 5 stars for everything except atmosphere. That’s only because it gets so packed and there is VERY limited seating so expect not to eat there just kind grab and go. The coffee is NOT free you pay for it at the counter and then get it yourself. It’s just out in the open so it can be confusing. The water station is down the hall. Tbh I will be back I loved the sandwich it was amazing.

The bagel popper from Bernstein's Bagels is a delightful bite-sized treat, perfect for a quick snack or breakfast on the go. The outer dough is soft and chewy, capturing the essence of a traditional bagel, while the inside is often filled with cream cheese or other savory fillings that melt in your mouth. It’s not too heavy but packs enough flavor to satisfy. Ideal for anyone craving a smaller portion of that classic bagel experience. Highly recommended for bagel lovers looking for a convenient and tasty option!

No bacon is crazy
This place is amazing! Originally from New York, I was a bagel snob and thought that it was the only place to get an authentic bagel. Bernstein’s has found a way to make them as good, if not better! And their selection of items to add is out of this world. But where they really shine is with their staff! They work hard and always manage to smile!

Best bagel spot in the city. Loads of cream cheese. The chive shmear is where it’s at! No dogs allowed inside.

I love this place. The bagels are so fresh and got a really good chewness to them. Amazing flavour and smear options. Great amount of cream cheese. They also include tip in the prices which is just real nice, I appreciate that!

This is my favorite Portland bagel spot by far. I'm not sure why it doesn't receive more recognition; the bagels are delicious.
My move is to order a few bagels online and then skip the line and pick them up in the morning. Just bagel and schmear. I'll typically get a mix of Pumpernickel (when available), everything, and plain bagels. The Mama Lil's Peppers schmear and cinnamon raisin are both really good. I like the whitefish salad but I get it if that's not your thing.
I'm not generally a fan of bagel breakfast sandwiches (I'm a bagel purist, I guess) and so I didn't love their bagel breakfast sandwich the one time I got it...but that's to be expected since I don't generally like them. I liked it as much as I like any other. I just feel like it's not the best way for their bagels to truly shine.

I’ve been struggling for the last few years to find something that resembles a REAL NY bagel. Big thanks to the homie for recommending Bernstein. These bagels are the closest to what I grew up eating. I highly recommend the sesame or everything bagel with the vegan schemer.
