EAST HILLSBORO GEM

I’ve dined here on multiple occasions for both lunch and dinner, but was really blown away by our large group experience for my mom’s 70th birthday. The level of attention from their staff and ability to timely deliver all 12 of our (different) meals was unmatched in quality.

Their menu, although limited, is DYNAMITE. Be sure to order the fried artichokes as an appetizer and share the beet salad with a buddy before enjoying your entree. I’m such a sucker for fried cheese.

I love love love their handmade pastas and am hopeful their new menu following this last remodel will have more robust options for pasta.

Saturday was my first time at Bethany’s Table, as they were highly recommended by friends and family members. I went with my Aunt and Uncle and Husband, for an early Christmas dinner.
The vibe when I walked in was so cozy and super dark and moody. I loved it.

We got our table and ordered drinks fairly quickly.

45 minutes later and we still didn’t have our drinks… We asked our waitress if they were coming and she said the bar was backed up and they would be out shortly.
Our drinks finally arrived an hour later, we were midway through our appetizers. At this point my party of 4 was very annoyed. The thing that bothered me most was the lack of communication. I don’t mind waiting for something if a restaurant is short staffed, just state that in the beginning. Don’t have us ask twice where our drinks are.

Lastly, it was dessert time. I ordered the seasonal crisp and asked what type of fruit was in it. Our waitress told us blackberry peach, my favorite.
Once it arrived, I took a bite only to deserve it was apple. Which is my least favorite. Apparently my crisp was apple butter, which in my opinion was not good. All I tasted was butter. I asked our waitress if there was some kind of mix up, and she said the chef said they ran out of blackberry peach and that’s what the flavor was.
What if I was allergic to apples? I’m not sure what annoyed me more, the drinks being an hour late or this.
In my opinion, it’s not that hard to use verbal communication and tell a customer they are out of something before serving the wrong item to them. I was completely over this dinner experience at this point. She offered me a different dessert but I declined.

Overall, I was extremely disappointed at this restaurant. Not to mention it’s a very expensive place to eat, so being this dissatisfied doesn’t sit well with me.

I will not be going back.

Great place for a special night out. So many good options on the starter menu - every one is well made. I have tried a dozen of them and loved them all. Main course options are good as well. Excellent service and food...it is a little pricey.

Bethany is just far enough off the 26 freeway that most won't stumble across it, and I get the feeling its residents prefer it that way. Bethany's Table is dedicated to thoughtful food and drink that serves its community first and foremost, while throwing special events like the wine dinner I attended which can delight all comers. This is cuisine that would easily play in the Darwinian jungle of downtown, but situated in surroundings far more suburban and sedate. If plans bring you out to Portland's western environs, consider giving this gem a try.

A little gem in Bethany Village. Sturgeon bites with a to-die-for a lemon aïoli, fried artichoke hearts with garlic aïoli, fresh pasta with local crab, a very healthy portion of amazingly fresh-tasting halibut w bright green broccoli rabe / zucchini / green beans and finally, lemon crème brûlée served in a whole lemon rind! What’s not to love?
Our waiter Stephan was knowledgeable, funny and friendly. And if he didn’t know an answer (e.g., how dry was a particular Riesling), he asked :)
Almost forgot to mention the artisan-crusty sourdough bread made by the owner that morning. I usually go easy on bread but not last night.
Duck breast carpaccio was too bold for me — even though I’m into cooked game — despite it being impeccably rendered with an arugula and fresh fig salad.

We hadn't been here in years and it's better than I even remember. Awesome service from friendly staff. Such fun cocktails and the food is so fresh tasting. It may be our new favorite place. This is my second time in a month. You have to try the fried artichoke hearts they are so yummy

Bethany’s Table is our favorite restaurant ?️ It's nice that we have an alternative to finer Portland restaurants. The entire menu is delicious and I could lunch here every day. I think we've tried everything as well as daily specials. A wonderful place for happy hour or dinner celebrations, though we look for any excuse to go. Janet & David and their dedicated staff work REALLY hard to provide an exceptional dining experience. We’ve hosted numerous family and friends, who love Bethany’s Table as much as we do. Great location & easy parking. Make a reservation, they have a loyal following?
