Bialy Bird is a warm, charming, and cozy local gem in Portland, now in its own brick and mortar spot. The space has a great, relaxed vibe that makes you want to settle in and stay awhile. The staff are friendly, chill, welcoming, prompt, and professional.
The menu features unique and delicious bialys, the bagel's cousin, with a subtle Japanese influence. Everything is thoughtfully built with high-quality, fresh ingredients. The bialys are soft inside with a chewy crust and insane flavors. Popular items include the classic bialys, the okonomiyaki bialy, the apricot bialy, and the HECC sandwich—a perfect blend of ham, egg and cheese. The okonomiyaki bagel as a lox sando and the Okonomiyaki Pastrami & Egg Bialy are also standouts, with pastrami that is super thick and falls apart in your mouth. The food is flavorful, delicious, excellent, and satisfying.
Pastries are lovingly earnest and small-batch. The cardamom roll is fragrant and perfectly balanced, the braided babka is rich without being heavy, and the chocolate chip cookie nails the texture. For drinks, the matcha and hojicha lattes are earthy, grounded, creamy, and not overly sweet, with the hojicha offering a deep roasted flavor. The nitro cold brew and cappuccino are also excellent. Be warned: you’ll order more than you planned because everything looks amazing.
