Please!!! I implore you to get better bread. I LOVE everything about this spot and it’s right in our neighborhood but every time I’ve gotten a sandwich it’s way too much bread and so dry. You’re using the best meats and cheeses get some good bread into the mix. Maybe work out wholesaling with An Xuyên or another local spot.

I’ve had a few sandos from here recently and am so impressed. #9 is so tasty! Don’t be deceived from the other poor reviews. The sandwiches are $12-15 but are a solid meal and a half experience. Such friendly staff and a killer beer selection. Will be coming back!

Been here a bunch! I've tried all the sando's, and most of the cold case items. They do it right at this Bodega!!! Just tried their new fried chicken hot case and its fire! Great service, Great Food, awesome and unique snacks from around the world (and they carry common snacks too). Pricing is good, the place is clean, and I truly recommend this place! This place isn't your typically mini-mart stop, it's worth popping in! 5 Stars all day! Kudos to the staff! PS I love the seasonal deli cold case items too! AAAAA+++++

I love this place and eat here often, but literally every time I've ever ordered a sub toasted, they don't toast it, and that sucks when you just want a hot meal. I'm tired of only ordering the things that are only served hot to ensure I get a hot sub. They shouldn't offer the option to toast unless they're actually going to.

Best East coast style subs I’ve been able to find!! Packed with big flavors + toppings, but not overflowing. Bread is sturdy and holds it all together. Been here multiple times recently, tried a different sandwich each time, and wasn’t disappointed. Not sure what the bad reviews are talking about, seems like the kid behind the counter knows what he’s doing and really cares about the sandwiches. I don’t see sandwich shops that often around here, what are you comparing it to??If anything, the sandwiches are the highlight, and the rest of the store is a bit lacking. It really is a bougie bodega, with mostly high end items. Nice one stop shop if you are having a picnic or heading to a party though, lots of little tasty treats.Portland doesn’t know a good thing when they see it, and were probably rude to the workers as usual, hence the “bad service”….

Is it good? Yes.Is it $17 good? ?As others have said, ya gotta have dope bread if you're gonna be charging $17 for a sandwich. Their bread is the culinary equivalent of sad Keanu sitting on a bench.Lastly, it's bold of them to have high tip percentages on their iPad when they're 1) a convenience store and 2) pretty dang unfriendly ?The sandwich served me well at a hungry point in my day when I found myself in a bit of a food desert. But I didn't feel great about paying $17 for it.

This place is a favorite on Foster. The best vegan sammiches we've had in Portland, and you can sub out meat and dairy for nearly all items on the menu. It's also a cute little convenience store with a small sitting area inside.People are always visiting and friendly there, so we stop by as much as we can.Vegetarian options: They have the "Field Roast" veggie slices and Chiao cheese for substitutes.

Great deli Sandwiches such a huge variety. My go to Sandwich is Johnny Sacks on Parmesan add Mama lils and pickled onions, toasted - so good. Yummy grab and go options. Love the convenience.

Honestly, I've had good sandwiches here before, but lately, the service has taken a nose dive and the BREAD is awful and stale. They must be saving money by getting day-olds from the bakery.

I've only had the Gabagool once, but my criticism is this, and I can't stress it enough: the bread here SUCKS.Maybe there are other options that play better off that foundational flaw, but I won't hazard another try to find out.

Great selection of novelty snacks( beware the $9 chocolate bar- prices weren't super clearly marked-but it was for a gift basket I was putting together so that was ok)... great sandwiches- we got the Carmela ( kiddo said, Yummy! ) and gabagool- the vinaigrette runs strong but still tasty - I subbed roast beef for the ham/ salami- although next time will sub out the prosciutto for roast beef) -very satisfying- there was also the turkey BLT ordered ( eaten too fast to photo) but would probably go with Bobby's Holiday next time ( for a turkey sandwich pick)...

From the reviews I had read I was expecting something I didn't get. Got 2 sandwiches and when I went to pick them up, the older lady behind the counter acted as if my picking up food was bothering her or maybe a hardship. The sandwiches were OK at best. The bread they use is not good. I could not decide if it was stale or just very flavorless and dry. The meat in the ham/turkey was good, but the onion stuff they put in was watery and flavorless. This is going to sound odd, but the sandwich was dry and running at the same time. The tuna had a runny bland sauce in it resulting in the same issue. Overall it was not bad, but also not good.
