We visited Bollywood theater after a long time with high expectations and hope to remenisce good old times - once a common household name in Portland . The ambience was peaceful and seating arrangements were comfy. Staff was cheerful and welcoming.
All went well until we ordered and the food arrived. We were a large group of over a dozen people and ended up sampling almost every item on the menu. We were aghast to realize that not even one item was neither tasty nor even authentic Indian food-like! I mean who can screw up something as simple as Katti Roll?! Portion sizes were good for small kids, not adults.
How utterly disappointing...avoid at all costs.

We ordered chai, vada pav and bel puri, food is extremely over priced, we were served tea that was at the bottom of the vessel which had a lot of milk residue in it. We could barely drink the chai. Vada pav and bhel puri are extremely overpriced for the price, quality and quantity
We were really looking forward to trying Bollywood Theater, but unfortunately, it ended up being a letdown. The concept and vibe are fun, but the food and pricing just don’t add up.
We ordered a vada pav ($6) and the thali ($25). The vada pav was fine, but for that price, it felt like paying a premium for something that should be a simple street snack. The thali was even more disappointing it came with just one roti and had no sweet or namkeen included. For $25, it felt incomplete and definitely not worth the cost.
Like others have mentioned, this isn’t authentic Indian food it’s more of an “Indian-inspired” take geared toward a hipster American audience. While the food itself wasn’t bad in taste, the portions were shockingly small for the price, and the value just isn’t there.
All in all, we left feeling unsatisfied. If you’re looking for real Indian flavors and a proper meal for what you pay, this isn’t the spot. I wouldn’t go back.

It’s like visiting India and getting all the authentic experience. Simply the best ambience and Indian food.

Recommended dishes: Pav Bhaji, Gobi Manchurian, Fried Okra
It was horrible experience. We are from Bay Area and had a flight to catch. No one was attentive, cooperative. Very poor customer service or I should say no customer service. Not sure who is running this business but not doing the folks correctly.
Food is below average and tasteless. Pav Bhaji was lil better but rest of the food was felt like stale. We hardly ate anything. Prices are way too high for limited below average thali 25$. Not worth it at all. Very bad low quality food.

Wish they put as much thought into the authenticity of the food as they did the decor

I've been a customer of Bollywood's for years, and back when they had their SE location I would go often with my family and my partner- I was so sad when they closed that location but happy they still have their one in NE. I have always loved their Paneer Makhani it's texture is perfect and very flavorful. Tonight I went there for dinner and had an uncomfortable interaction with a man outside (not at all the restaurants fault, just comes with being in a big city) and one of the waitstaff took the time to check in on me while conducting her closing duties. She was very kind and made me feel safe there despite the uneasiness I felt from the interaction. I have always loved this restaurant but this additional interaction made me like it more

Good although they messed up our order (forgot to give us something we paid for and we had to go asking for it) and gave us expired coke…

Came here with great expectations, ate Pav Bhaji (extra runny), Paneer Makhani (extra runny), Kathi roll, Dal-rice, Chai and Vada Pav. Except for dal rice everything was too spicy; garam masala type spicy 👎🏻 Chai too had only cloves which is weird (we got our refund). Chutneys tasted store bought.
Service was regular, nothing out of ordinary.
Name says BOLLYWOOD THEATER but the songs they play are from South Indian film industry not Bollywood at all, super weird.

Great food and service!
Amazingly flavourful food. Some really great light refreshing options when I was there on a hot day. Fairly long wait when I was there, but it was really busy so that is to be expected.
$18 for a tiny plate of chicken and rice with watered down curry sauce, no veggies or anything, is absolutely offensive. Starting to understand why the other location had to close.
Ambience was amazing but food was worst.
Came first time to this location, and food is horrible, tasteless and less in portions.
No flavours just bland food.
